New to riding

Hey guys,
Just thought I drop in and say what's up. I bought a ninja 300 right before Xmas. I'm happy with it so far and hope to be able to meet up with y'all some time. Still trying to get comfortable on it first before riding with others. If any one has any good tips just shoot them my way! Be safe out there

Good choice on your first bike.

Tips:
1. Take the MSF class
2. Get your "M" endorsement on your license
3. Buy good gear and wear it (always dress for the crash.... the day will come)
4. Do trackdays.... Trackdays will save your life.

Welcome to MH.

See ya around.... I'm on the NW side as well.

Yes a 300 is great for the track! Stay away from the BORC rides!

Yes, MSRH but not TWS (Texas World Speedway) as much. TWS (Texas World Speedway) is a fast track, MSRH is more technical. You'll be able to throw it back and forth more easily than the heavier bikes. I knew someone who could zip around everyone on their 250 in the turns...but got burned in the straights by the 600's and 1000's.

Nice Bike! Welcome!

After you get some seat time in or between check out your local meet and greet! Also you can ask ?s about rides, or track days! Get some knowledge of good riding techniques from people who know factual (no opinionated) advice.

If you do go to a ride, make sure it's your pace and never try to keep up and get reeled into a corner!

See you out there!

Wrong, actually, in my opinion and other experienced riders. TWS (Texas World Speedway) is more technical than MSRH, and yes faster as you said. World has a bit of elevation and blind curves. MSR-Houston is flat, and the Launch doesn't really count for elevation.

To the OP, yes a 300 is more than fine for track riding! You'll be surprised how many smaller CC bikes show up at track days. You'll have a blast at every track you'd go to! As a new rider and an experienced rider.

What Deano posted, all good!

The M&Gs are perfect for NOOBs and "new to MH" people. That's how you'll meet the same people you'll go on rides with, track days with, and who knows... Maybe new group of good friends, best friends.

If he makes it there on his bike... I would cage it until you are over being nervous riding your bike, epically at night.
