So if I understand correctly: you wrecked in the X-12 and walked away. So now you want a cheaper helmet? Haven't you just made an excellent case for sticking with an X-12. Personally I'll only ever stick with Shoei or Arai. But if you want to stray check out the UK Sharp helmet safety database. You may need to Google model names a bit - as helmet models have different names in the UK - but you won't find a better and more objective source for safety ratings for helmets anywhere.

same thing ive thought to myself. back then i always wanted this lid.. i graduated army basic training and decided to reward my self with an $800 lid. im not in the best position to give that kind of dough again for a helmet. yes the lid did an amazing job. but im sure other cheaper DOT helmets can as well. may not be snell.. but at least its something and ive done my research. AGV is pretty respected and have great feedback.. leading me to choose an entry level AGV(k3 series) which most people consider mid level quality
