if you haven't fixed the problem yet, i'd check the connection between the main harness and headlight harness. older bikes tend to get oxidation built up in the terminals causing intermittent connection failures.

I messed with the right hand switch, soldered the connection. but something is wrong with it, it works a lot better but sometimes it just doesnt want to work at all and until i start punching it haha. i ordered a new switch though. 40 dollars yay
