6th gen VFR Exhaust

Guys, I just wanted to give big props to Chris at Katy Exhaust. He took on the job of gutting my stock exhaust and he did a great. The VFR sounds more like a Mustang GT rather then a sewing machine now.. That V4 has come to life..

How about a sound clip/video?
Did you just gut the cans or did you decat it?

Just the cans. He pulled everything out. Job was harder then he thought because the baffle has very tiny tac welds that hold it in place near the back ends. Didn't know I could load a video up here.. hummm

I wanted to keep the stock look cause I like the set up. Also the fact my wife and I ride two up a lot I wanted to ensure he bottom stayed cool cause any afters market would of ment the heat shields would be lost.

How much did they charge? Did you notice any drop in gas mileage?

I put Leo Vince on my VFR and it definitely gives a nice rumble. No heating issue at all.

That's NOT the 1200...

OP, I strongly suggest you decat it!
Will make a world of a difference!

As far as gas mileage goes I haven't seen much a difference but once again I just went through my first tank of gas.. I completely respect other peoples preference in exhaust for this bike but my thought process was simple. I love the stock look! Factory cans will be cooler due to heat shields ( proven )! And this is a V4 and it should sound like one! The gut job cost me $200.00 much cheaper then any aftermarket cans. They did all the welding and removal for me and also ensured all bolt holes lined up with the heat shield once it was re-welded. I couldn't be happier with the look and finish. All that is left is to get my hands on some 5th gen headers.

Sweet!! That is one third price of a Leo vince. Did you also get a PCV or PCIII?

I haven't gotten around yet to get a Power Commander but plan on doing so soon. I have heard noting but good things about the low end response of the VFR with this upgrade. I guess you can say I wanted to learn my bike extremely well before getting anything that would enhance its performance. I have only been riding since June 2012 and this is my first bike. I really treat her like a baby and have been really focused on learning the bike inside and out..

Does anyone have the new Michelin Pilot Road 3 tires? if so what do you think? I got a nail this week on my rear tire and need to replace it.
