Tojo's new German toy Helga!

A friend of mine lives in Terlingua and on his last visit to the house, he fell in love with my Daytona 1200.

See below...

537212 4687573820941 1421535609 n

He had an MZ 1000S and was worried about keeping it running with the hard to find parts, etc. He at first asked to buy the Daytona, so I cleared it with Scoutguy as he had first right of refusal to buy it back. I got clearance and hoped that my MZ friend was just messing around.

Well, he called and wanted to see if I would trade him for the MZ. I always liked these as they were a bit odd, and definitely different. Not many around to boot.

I starting researching them, and found good reviews. Parts can still be found and the engines are VERY well built. Maintenance items are interchangeable with mass produced items. One moto mag in Europe tore one down with 50K miles and found VERY little wear at all.

So, here are some pics of Helga. Surprisingly fun to ride and faster than expected. There are a few "patina" items, but nothing too bad. Also need a clutch lever, but no worries there as it is the same as certain Kawasaki bikes.

With Touratech set up.

A little sticker camouflage to cover the crack from drop that will be repaired soon. Shoei sticker for the win...

love the headlights on the mz, if they dont have a good cutoff and/or hid I would swap them with s2k, TL, FXR, or morimoto hid projectors

Darren talked about that bike when we were in Barber, I know he will miss it.

Guess you both did great, it is great to see a win-win situation.
