Correct, and the fact that he doesn't have a class M endorsement might have made it a moot point anyway. Only one attorney on the forum that I am aware of so he should contact him.

In my experience the court would rather take your money, and defensive driving I believe makes them more money.

was at a court house one time
told them i had DD within the year
guy was like i didnt hear that
asks dude next to him, did u hear that?
no
they process my DD papers
and take the cash

I don't know man, last ticket I got in City of Houston the cop showed up! Even after my attorney postponed my court date. Speeding was dismissed; but I had to pay the $60 fine for no front plate. It's a crappy feeling sitting in the court room praying the cop doesn't show up.

Police are writing about 25% fewer tickets lately -- for every four tickets written in August and September 2009, only three tickets were given out in August and September 2010, the data show.

But an investigation by Texas Watchdog and Local 2 suggests the dropoff in the number of tickets is connected to two other serious issues that have faced the Houston Police Department.

The first: The city’s attempts to cut down on the big overtime checks being earned by some officers purely for sitting and waiting in traffic court for their cases to be called – an age-old worry for the city’s financial managers.

The second: HPD officers repeatedly failing to show up to traffic court, something that is costing the city millions of dollars when their tickets, and the resulting fines, are dismissed.

Roughly one violation out of every seven that was processed into the Houston Municipal Court system's computers last year – the huge majority of them traffic tickets written by HPD officers -- wound up being dismissed because the prosecuting officer was a no-show, Texas Watchdog found. Some 112,000 violations were dismissed out of the 845,000 written by police officers.

i have found even if the cop does show up, u can still get dd with trial by judge. Ask the da next time you are arraigned. So you roll the dice and if u lose you can just ask for dd from the judge. Only you can't get deferred judification or probation once trial by judge.

Yikes, sounds like your license plate is not the only thing got smoked.

I put hi-power white LEDs on my license plate lights. My wife says it's so bright, she can't read the numbers 50ft back.

Ok here's a tip THAT WORKED FOR ME MANY TIMES, call Citizens Law Firm, they saved my plenty of times with speeding tickets, they charge $50 a ticked so be it that you ONLY HAVE 1, it will be $50, they will reset your court date for like a month or so from the day you pay. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS SHOW UP TO THE COURT DATE, and your lawyer will handle the rest. CASE DISMISSED.. TRUST ME, I've had plenty. Also, You'er gonna have to wait a week or so until your ticket gets in the system, then call them and then they would see it, pay over the phone, then you will get a letter in the mail from them with the new court date.

Awesome, thanks! Hope that works! Even $100 is better than $500.

Oh so u got 2 tickets, yeah, so you will just pay $100, guaranteed both will get dismissed. I've had a no Moto endorsement & speeding tickets a couple times and got them dismissed using Citizens Law Firm. Its def worth it, cause, if you just went yourself, You would be paying MUCH MORE, and fines would be on your license.
