Welcome to MH. I dont know what kind of bike you looking for but i will say dont get super sport, even though (to me) they look the nicest. The biker lifestyle is a fun one and has many great people who are always willing to help.

thanks guys. I don't think I need a SS as my first bike. I'm looking at a few. Ninja650r, CBR500r, and possibly a HD Iron 883. Although the 883 looks nice, I'm looking for something I can learn how to "ride" if that makes sense. I'd like to get into track days and such.

Welcome....

Great ideas on bike. All 3 you have in mind are great bikes. That Nija 650 also dont leave out the SV. They can be made into some sweet custom rides. Good Luck on your find and keep the shiny side up. Get you gear now and get the class done.

good luck on finding what you like, its very addicting...

Get what you want. If you are into cars you should hopefully respect the throttle, and that is where safe riding begins.

Had a ninja 650 r years ago, great bike enough power to have fun , commute, but not too much to scare the out of you... But believe me , you can still scare or hurt yourself with any bike, so take your time slowly to improve your skills

Yeah I remember someone telling me I don't have to worry about wheelies on a 650. I did a u turn and punched it, long story short my whole chest and stomach was bruised from the tank comming up so fast. miss my 650
