back on two wheels!

just picked up this 2006 CBR600RR, it's kinda rough around the edges but i got it for an absolute steal.

myCBR zpsedf71250

list of stuff i'm having our shop do.
-new pilot power front
-chain/sprocket
-rear brake pads
-oil change

it's been laid over and the already cheap chinese plastics were shoddily repaired and rattled canned flat white. so those are going in the trash.

here's what i'm putting back on it.

Great find! Nothing like a good project bike you get to do up your way.

Congrats. I know you've been looking for a while. Can't wait to see how you deck it out.

Beautiful bike. Those Repsol fairings are aftermarket right? They look really nice.

yeah it came down to rustling to together all the stips to finance and MAYBE getting a decent rate on a 1 y/o bike. OR buying this thing cash way cheap and start from scratch. for some reason the latter of the two got my vote.

apples and oranges man. this bike loves the freeway compared to the buell. pretty nimble like the buell. surprisingly stable at low speeds unlike a few other SS bikes i've ridden. which is similar in a way to the buell. but unlike the buell this motor is a screamer. power curve seems to be the exact opposite from that old v-twin. i love how it raps up and the induction/exhaust noise.

my old bike got sold to a guy up in college station. after a few days of riding it i was told an electrical gremlin showed it's head. i think it burned up a battery, some relays and fuses and generally started doing things it shouldn't. none of which were issues i ever experienced with that thing. soooo...idk maybe i just loved it more.

yeah they are cheap chinese ones. discovered them on a CBR forum. decent reviews. decent fitment. if i ever drop it or feel the need to replace them my heart wont be broken. nor would my wallet be.

so going with a 600 means that you would still be able to pull a Buell XB up top ??

hp numbers are about the same between the two, but i fully understand that near any I4 600 would terrorize the Buell up over 80mph....

yeah that harley based v-twin just aint got it. it's a cruiser motor so thats what it does best. now we go down through some twisties and you'll walk away from me(for now). i have yet to play with the suspension settings on this bike. once i finally dialed in the buell where i wanted it that thing lived on it's sides. still miss it kinda. it fit me like a glove. just had a motor and a gear box.
