Went to see Jim today, all i can say is that Jim has a long hard road ahead of him and will need the support of the entire community. I know that this is possible from us and will expect nothing less from the great people of this community.
If there is anything that you can contribute outside of prayers and donations, please PM me and I will delegate everything to Jim.

Thank you

Update (from jim himself!): my spine has been reconstructed

He can talk but his lung capacity isn't back up to normal yet so he is a man of few words...for now. Before we know it, he'll be jabbering away with his advice, etc. They have him sitting at a 30-35 degree angle, big accomplishment. He can swallow more easily now and start his recovery.

He'll have a regular room soon, so visiting well get a lot easier too.

Hi Joey,
I believe i never met him but after reading the last few pages it appears that he is a great guy and on the pictures you can really see the love for life.
So sad but it could happen to any of us on any group ride or track day event.
Let me know how do you think i could contribute and what he needs the most.
I will contribute tomorrow to the paypal account provided and be of course at the bbq fundraiser event.
PM me if you have any other suggestions .

I was just told this sad story last night at BORC dinner, I never met the gentlemen, but I am truly saddened to hear about a fellow riders crash, fatal death, or injury. I wish him a positive recovery, mind, body and soul.

Hi, Rodrigo and I were at the hospital from 3:30-8:30. The first two hours and a half hours was us waiting until we could see him. After today, we're realizing we should minimize which people go to see him since it's stressful for him. Scott ("The Dude" of Houston Gixxers)said that he set up a schedule among those members, we should stick with that and then hopefully Wednesday he's out of the STICU. Those members are the people crucial to care for his logistical needs. He hasn't been sleeping, couldn't eat (coughing and choking) and is generally having trouble with anything that reaches his throat. Rodrigo had to bang on his chest to help him out, and he has developed a bed sore on his foot. Ugh.

Anyway, I'm posting here about the fact that visitors should wait until he's out of STICU until regular visits resume. We ordered for him a liquid diet, which he agreed to, since he can't really handle swallowing food very well (rice, pieces of meat, carrots were attempted tonight).

Rodrigo is going back in the AM, and expects to be there every AM from 6-8am on weekdays.

Staff was really nice and helpful (Lynn, Matt, Serena). However, there is a staff member who came in when Jim was having trouble eating and Jim dared mention that his position in bed was uncomfortable and he was having trouble eating and for whatever reason this very unprofessional (nurse?) said "he'll have to get a feeding tube...that is what we threaten when they won't eat". Believe me, I responded, and hope that she has learned from her misunderstanding (Jim was trying to eat) as we also spoke to her coworkers about her statement. Sorry, I did not bother getting her name since Jim wasn't really in her care.

Thank you for Rising Up for Jim ‘Wolverine’
Friends & Family,

attachmentphp?attachmentid64315&ampstc1&ampd1358178872

Your commitment to ‘Rise Up for Jim ‘Wolverine’ just in this first week has raised $3,025.36!!!

Thanks to your generous donations, Jim is able to make his house payment among other bills this week. Because of this amazing unified Family, Jim can weather this life changing time with a bit more ease and for that - we know he is deeply appreciative.

As you know, this is only the beginning and Jim will continue to need all the support we can give. These donations will make it possible for Jim and his gracious girlfriend, Carmen, to continue forward in a positive way despite the reality of time it will take for Jim to fully recover.

His motorcycle Family is planning a ‘Rising Up for Jim ‘Wolverine’ Benefit Event for April/May & his condition is positive that Jim himself will be able to join – as of right now his spine has been reconstructed & he is sitting at a 30-35 degree angle to help him swallow /talk more easily as he begins his road to recovery.

We hope that you remain involved with ‘Rising Up for Jim ‘Wolverine’ – making it possible for him to receive the services and supplies he truly deserves. Thank you ALL for being true friends to bring about the time when Jim thought he would have no one – he really has EVERYONE!

Sincerely,
Jim’s Motorcycle Family

Update via Melanie of Houston Gixxers: Per Scott - Jim's nurse just called : Jim is now out of STICU!!! He has his own room - Jones building, Room 636, 6th Floor. We believe it's the same building but just a different wing. I will be going up there @ 11 today so I will update again afterwards.

Update from Melanie of Houston Gixxers: I just got back from visiting Jim - in his very own room in the Jones building Rm 6/36 (Floor 6/Room 36). Nice big room.
I called before I came & he had a request for juice so I stopped & picked some up. When I arrived he was asleep - woke for just a moment to see me there & to tell me he is rough today. Then he fell right back to sleep - they must have just given him some meds as well... He looks good - just very exhausted. I left because I didn’t want to disturb him.
**Visitors are welcome from 9am - 9pm only. He is allowed to have more than 2 visitors at a time but I wouldn't overwhelm him with maybe 4 at most at a time for now. Just a suggestion... >>> You can get to the Jones elevators through the same building as we did to get to STICU. Just take the ramp to the right going toward the pavilion area (if you get to the stained glass you have gone to far) & make a right at the top of the ramp. Follow the signs to the Jones Pavilion elevators.
