decent quality dirt gear?

who in town stocks decent quality dirt gear?
I am looking to get some boots, pants, jersey, chest protection and maybe knee and elbow pads...not looking for the very best, but good quality that would do the job and last awhile...i may decide to do a bit of dirt riding in addition to the tt race at ttbc in march.

I "was" getting my gear at a huge discounted rate at Cycle Gear from there "discount" racks, great selections also...

Now I have a sponsorship for gear through JT Racing USA thankfully, I go through some gear from time to time while running over trees in the woods.

I'm not a huge fan of Cycle gear but they tend to have a huge selection of gear to pick from or at least see what you like and don't like.

I tend to stay away from Fox gear. Back when I used to work at a smaller shop, we tried to get set up with them to stock it in our shop. They basically told us that they have enough stores in the Houston area and don't need any small business. them.

No Fear and Thor are my favorite brands of gear.

Alpinestar boots are excellent for dirt. I'm still using the same pair that I bought back in 2004 after HEAVY use and abuse. They weren't the most expensive pair, either. I'd look into a chest protector for sure. They can help alot.

Scott goggles are cheap but work fine. Spy goggles are and very comfy.

oh, ok, thanks... if i can not find something i like local i will check them out.
I tend to try and support local businesses when i can, might cost a few more bucks once in awhile...but to me having them close by is well worth it.

Understand. Take a look when you get a chance. May not be able to pass up on some prices.

I stock a lot of off road gear here at Wild West Honda and I'll hook you up with a 25% Motohouston discount. I have some entry level Answer gear that at 25% off is very inexpensive.

, wish i had seen that before i went to cycle gear at lunch...
wound up getting mostly fox stuff..
got a fox titan jacket, has the back protector, chest protector, kidney belt, shoulder pads, elbow pads and forearm pads all built in...
got fox titan knee and shin pads..
got a fox jersey and fox 180 pants..
picked up a set of AStars boots, the tech 3 in white...not the top of the line anything, but what appears to be decent quality... and cycle gear is close to the shop...since i already had a fox helmet, goggles and gloves.. i think i am good to go.. if you think of anything else i should have...let me know.

IMO, don't skimp on helmet and boots. Otherwise, jersey, pants and gloves are semi disposable. The legs of any pants will get worn out from regular use (not to mention crashes) and your jersey will eventually get torn up from trees/falls. I only expect my jersey/pants to make it maybe a year (if I'm lucky). Boots & helmets should last several years.
