No I just got the bike at the beginning of August. Got the inspection sticker about a week or two later.

Come to think of it the inspection sticker is newer because I got my license plate and inspection sticker stolen so I had to get new ones in like October. I seriously don't know how it could lose it's stickiness from soap and water

You lost it because the area was not cleaned before the sticker was applied

They still sell those things? Just kidding. The inspection is the better one to have. It is cheaper and if you let it go for more than 60 days you can't get out of the ticket. Registration sticker can be five years old but you have 10 days to get one and it's dismissed.

If it's under the seat... it's illegal. Not displayed at the back of the vehicle. If nothing else, it gives them a reason to pull you over at any time they want, even if they do let you go.

For less than $15 bucks, it's kind of a toss up between tape and just getting a new one. Depends on how long the current one is good for I guess
So what about people that put them on the swing arm? Besides looking tacky is it illegal?? Mine is also underneath the seat

Got pulled over riding my ZX10R in Hitchcock for "changing lane without signal". Had a pleasant chat with the cop, who was nice enough to give me a ticket instead for not having an inspection sticker (just bought the bike that week). Ended up having to take 1/2 day off and ride to Hitchcock courthouse with the inspection receipt the next week to get it dismissed. Still had to pay a court fee, like $20(?).

Not worth it.

Just get it inspected and be done.

Is it easy to take off from there? That's where I'm thinking if putting it from now on.

Do you want easy? If the surface is cleaned prior it will stick for good.

That's a good reason not to stick them on any part of the bike. Get yourself one of those inspection sticker "place-holders" like this. My gixxer has the residue of the sticker put on the swingarm by previous owner, and it is gonna be a PITN to remove it all, even with a glue remover.

That sucks. I usually throw away the wing nuts that come with those license plate reflector bolts and use locknuts instead - 2 on each bolt. Still no theft proof, but it requires a tool and slows down the low-lifes. You can use security bolts, but if somebody wants it bad enough, nothing will stop 'em.

You beat me to it. The trick is to not get caught. My bike is legal now, though, because of my trip to Sturgis.

WD 40 will get residue off easily without harming paint or coatings

Mine fell off before I bought it, almost 2 years ago, still haven't replaced it. Have been stopped by cops 3 times for other reasons and none said anything about it missing.
