Craigslist spammed by Dealers

Why is it dealers insist on spamming CRaigslist? I thought craigslist was supposed to be for private dealings?

craigslist is for dealers too.. that is why you have the option of searching for private only or dealers only, or both...and dealer adds usually say dealer in the listing before you open it.

This.

EDIT: but dealers do seem to derp out, and maxke a new listing for the same car every time they change the price.

I've seen plenty of dealers mark their listings as being from private sellers to get around that.

I bought a used car about 6 months ago. From what I've seen almost 75% of the 'Private' listings on CL are dealer cars. They drive the car to a neighborhood and take pictures in front of a house. Also notice how many of the phone numbers are the same number.

well, it seems to me that if you do not want to buy something from someone you feel is abusing the system...it is easy enough just to click on the next listing...
you could always report it to CL and see how they feel about it, it is after all, their site. i do not see where someone having mulitple things for sale makes them a spammer, while it does give the shopper more options...
if they start charging you to shop on CL, you might actually have a complaint.
I click on CL 5 to 10 times a day, i have bought 1 motorcycle from a CL add... and it was an individual...
I have been to look at a couple of dealers bikes that i saw on CL, but the price they were asking was more than i wanted to pay, so I just looked...
over the years i have bought a little over 20 bikes from dealers, the rest have come from individuals.

There are a lot of annoying people on CL (especially the 400 sets of 38" Swaggas for $40,000 listed in the cars for sale section), but overall, it is a great resource. They keep a small staff to keep it free for us.

I don't mind dealer listing used stuff, or below MSRP prices.... what I don't like is a dealer listing with factory specs on a brand new bike listed at MSRP.
I get it... you are a dealer... and have the same info as every other dealer. Wanna bring me in? List a lower price... or a cash price... or something.
