I went down this December going about 35 mph. Wearing Wrangler jeans. The ballistic nylon jacket shredded, but the jeans kept me safe. No scratches, just bruises.

Leather is better, I'm sure. But jeans aren't as bad as he makes them out to be.

I've got some kevlar reinforced jeans that I hope would hold up better than your average wranglers. I still only wear them when I'm going somewhere for dinner or something. If I'm out for fun I'm weather leather.

I've been down 3 or 4 times in jeans. All between 20-35mph. Never slid long enough in the same spot to get rash under the jeans. It's all circumstantial, though, and it's smart to gear up if you can. Deep road rash is one of the most painful things I've had next to breaking bones.

I wear kevlar-reinforced Icon jeans with A* kneepads underneath along with A* back protector, A* leather jacket, race boots and gloves...basically everything short of leathers and a neck brace...

I weigh 280lbs and landing on hard concrete, I image, would be a different experience for me versus an average 160lb rider

I'm 225 and I've always wondered about that. Will I still slide or will my weight make me tumble? Then I found out... You still slide.

Hmm I heard there are these places called gyms where they can help with that problem...

Every time I've crashed in regular jeans I tore through the knees from go. I still wear the one pair of kevlar jeans I crashed in. They were all slow speed crashes, but for me the proof is in the crashing. If I'm wearing regular jeans I'm also wearing over-pants.

i slide a good 60 or 70 feet on on my left side with fieldsheer jeans with the kevlar under the knees and hips/ area. you cannot even see hardly any marks on the denim.

<10 mph at MSRH parking lot. Hit loose gravel and jean ripped at the knee area on impact. SE crew can vouch.

weekend rides = leather if not in july/aug/sept all other months usually mesh riding pants.

Used to wear jeans for all non weekend riding but I just switched to the Icon kevlar jeans. Hopefully I wont get to test them

Used to crash test a lot of gear as a kid and rash takes a long as time to heal, and once you get older its even slower.

ever so gently touched the knees down and the asphalt wore through my jeans like they were wet paper... would NOT want to crash in jeans.
