Oh no, it is perfectly ok for people to text and drive, run over us! I am going to start kicking mirrors off! They don't use them anyways...

Bevo, any more info on the story as to how the accident happened? I'm very familiar with that section of road as it was part of my commute and one of the favorite parts of the commute. How the Surburban is positioned looks very odd as to how the wreck could have occurred unless the burb' was traveling the wrong way from northbound freeway or ran the red light on southbound. Other idea is possibly the rider went ride into the burb.

Maybe bald tires on the SUV and trying to take a turn, or just a plain inattentive driver. Bad way to go! Prayers for the family of the biker.

Police say SUV was on the inside lane, rider next to SUV. Both lanes turn left. SUV lost control during the turn. Rider and bike pinned under SUV. Both were heading South bound on the feeder before the turn.

RIP rider.

I might get caught in the rain on the way home, but not the morning commute. Well... I did one time, and I turned right around and rode home, changed to dry clothes, and caged in instead.

I just came back from this incident. We lifted the vehicle off the rider. I will not discuss any information, so dont ask. Just a reminder...please check every intersection you come to before going through.

You can't lose control if you were never in it to begin with.

My guess is that the SUV was going too fast for rain because they think they are invincible and didn't even see the rider and made their turn 100 lanes wide as they always do... can't even tell you how many times people would have hit me if I didn't expect this all the time.

RIP rider, sad way to go.

That corner is one I go through everyday I go to work. When it's wet, it gets slick. People also fail to stay in their lanes there. I've had lots of close calls there.

I don't think there's a more dangerous position to be in than riding 'next' to a vehicle. People change lanes without warning, drift, don't check mirrors, etc... Either get in front in their line of sight or stay back if you can.

RIP to this rider. He probably had no other mode of transport to be riding in this weather. Sad...

+1

I had very similar thoughts when I saw the report on the AM news. RIP to the rider.
