There is no shame in finishing last! The way I have always looked at racing is there's a lot more people sitting on the sidelines with DNS next to their names!

Yes, we will have 2 rounds of practice. I'll post a firm time-schedule in a couple weeks but racers should plan on arriving around 5 to walk the track, have a rider's meeting to go over the format so everyone's on the same page, and do some practice. Actual heats will start at 6pm sharp! Hopefully that's not a problem for anyone, let me know if it is.

I've got to say thank you to all from MOTOHOUSTON, you guys are seriously stepping up and representing. We should be sold-out by week's end!

I'm paid. Expect some spectacular crashes from this guy. The last time I went there we did half a lap 4 wide, and bumpin elbows with chad and a few other fast riders. I hope I'm competitive enough!

wd40oz, will there be something going on earlier that day preventing visitors from stopping by for the gun range or some trials and flat track action? I'd love to bring my 110 to come get sideways before or after the races.

I filled out the form and am waiting to see if they have room... waiting on the confirmation email...will have to buy some dirt gear though if i do this.I would not want to be the only one there in leathers.
Come on Obed!

I fully expect to be picking a bike up a few times.

I would definetly love to bring out my bike for the flat track to see how it may fare in mad dawg class in the future.

Sent in an request for sid too. Hopefully there is a spot open since no paypal invoice as of yet. Taylor Myers can run a 1:27 in Superpole, then Sid should be able to at least get in the 1:30's, lol.

We talked about using the big TT track out back but despite its length, there's not a lot of passing zones. You really have to bump someone out of the way to get it done AND there's no lights so we can't run it at night. There will be a TT track under the covered arena. JoeP and the guys are already working on the design which is going to provide ample passing opps, a jump, big sweeper and close racing!

We're going to have several 'operations' meetings well before the event, and a complete schedule for that day is on the agenda. Who knows, maybe we'll turn it into an all-day jamboree with 50 cal's plus a mini day-camp and the races at night and call it 'Slide-a-Palooza' Just thinking out-loud

one line says gear is provided with the bike, another line says bring your gear...
what gear are you suggesting the riders have?
how many riders in their 60's do you expect?
In my one and only time doing FT, I got a very good start and ran over one of the leaders after he crashed so we had to restart.
On the restart the old guy next to me on a Xr100 kept jumping the start witch caused me to jump. We must have retarted atleast 5 times before we got it right. We had to start from the very back of the pack after the first jump. He ended up running away from me and killed my dreams of running FT because I could not beat that old gramper. He must have been atleast 80yrs old.

I am in, got my invoice and paid...now to decide what gear to buy...
any suggestions...
I already have a fox racing dirt helmet with presription goggles...
I have some ap gloves that i have never worn and of course I have my rr track boots, but i may get some dirt boots... what do you suggest in the way of jersey and pants... and should i get some kind of chest/back protector?
What are the actual gear requirements and where would be good to exceed those requirements?

I know who is going to finish last, but i am going to have fun anyway.

I highly recommend No Fear brand of gear and also recommend Thor gear. No Fear is the most comfortable and longest lasting gear i've ever owned.

I dont have much experience with being old and crashing but I think you should get as much gear as you can find. That chest protector might save you a broken rib if someone decides to ramp off of you.

Use the gear supplied at TTBC. All of Colin's sponsors and its hard to beat Arai, Sidi, Spidi etc. The Spidi under jersey body armor really works well - I tested it

I will likely pick up my own gear... it may not be top of the line, but it would be good to have some dirt oriented gear, I may do something like this again in the future...
who in town stocks decent quality dirt gear?

you'll definitely want knee and elbow/forearm protection. I've seen lots of nasty bruises and rashes in those areas (I have plenty of scars to prove this) RR boots work just fine, I prefer them as they are much lighter and provide a lot more feel for brake pressure

I remember this day quite well, while riding the Mighty 150R, the guy on the KLX140 crashed in front of me and I nearly removed his head for him
