Pretty rough start. I'm sure you'll take good care of it.

Now.... why does my bike have an oil leak at the oil pan gasket?

My Katana leaked at the neutral safety switch. I replaced the "O" ring and it still leaked. So after confirming that it was leaking from that spot I did away with the "O" ring and filled the grove with silicone and put it together. Leak fixed!

cychotic - that bike is beautiful. But I think I am going to restore it into a clean example of an F3. Sometimes it feels like its impossible to find a bike with a clean title situation. Well not only did this bike come with a clean title and extremly low miles, I also received the original purchase paperwork ( product delivery, loan, warranty, honda care package etc. ) along with some service paperwork from the dealers who did work on the bike.

I am only the second owner of it. Original owner drove it only during summers up until '05 that was the year he decided to try and track it. Crashed first time out out and put it up. It moved with him from Dallas to houston 3 years ago. And it came out of hibernation just yesterday

That 1200 uses the oil to cool the engine just like the original katana motors. The heat is a bit hard on those rubber gaskets. When I put that engine in your bike I had to swap the valve cover gasket ( it was hard as a rock and cracked clean through in many spots ) along with the side cover gaskets. The pan gasket was the only one I did not change out.

Its a simple fix, just takes time. At your next oil change remove the exhaust and drop the pan, replace the gasket and bolt it all back up I will bet that the gasket is rock solid.. .

That's what makes it a "custom fighter"

Eh... I still like the fighter... don't think there is a single bike on customfighters that isn't an on-going project. That's one of the reasons I'm constantly looking around on there.

Hopefully the OP's F3 gets the attention to make it nice again, whether fighter or factory.

I wouldn't think it would be too bad (assuming you're talking about the bandit 1200 engine) as I just replaced the oil pan (and I'm almost certain I did the gasket as well) due to a stripped drain bolt right before I sold the engine to you.

But yeah, pulling the pan to check the gasket should be really simple.

Ya its the 1200. If I remember right that was why I did not do the pan gasket because you did it before me.
