would you report insurance fraud at a local dealership?

So I had my engine fail and the extended coverage I purchased covered it in full after some back and forth with the dealership. They originally wanted to have me pay 3,000 out of pocket while the insurance company was going to pay 7,500. The insurance company is actually paying the 7,500 not some lower amount. That was with the motor being rebuilt in the shop. I however didn't want to pay 3,000 out of pocket. They offered 2,000 out of pocket for me after that but I still declined. I would of taken my bike elsewhere but couldn't due to the fact it was 600+ to pick it up because of diagnostic work. Normally I probably would have but life was throwing a lot of my way at the moment. Sucks because I found out after the fact that I could of taken it anywhere! First couple people from insurance said it needed to be the shop on my plan but that was not the case. They wanted 9,5000 for the total rebuild after talking them down 1,000. I was tempted because I wanted my bike back but knew I was getting screwed and could basically buy a new zx6r for that price.

Well after months I finally got the manager at the shop to approve the option of putting in a low mileage used motor. This was not an easy task in itself. The motor was 2,000 and shipping was 500.00 the labor on the rebuild was 1,000-1,500 for a total of around 3,500-4,000. This took 5 months to complete, but that's fine I tried to be patient.

Well I just spoke with the insurance company to just see what was claimed and guess which one they submitted?

what would you guys do?

I'd like to know who it is. I wouldn't want to wander in there for a tire & end up with a bill for five grand.

Not really.

I have dealt with some decent people at the location. The mechanic thats been there for a while is a real nice guy, and a few of the people out front were.

I understand its a business, and they are out to make money, that is fine. I just feel like i was geting screwed really hard, and it took forever to get someone to agree to doing the used motor. It just seems they could of still made good money with the 7500 on the rebuild but wouldnt do that.

Even 7500 is retarded high. I can get my diesel rebuilt for that. Rebuilding a motorcycle engine is easy. A one or two day job if you know what you're doing.

this seems to be deliberate fraud on their part...making good money is one thing, stealing is another...these guys played hard ball with you...hard but legal, what they did with the insurance company is stealing...they are not folks i would trust to do business with, if they will steal from the insurance company, they will steal from you when the opportunity comes up.

Karma is a . In the long run, whatever shop it is won't make it. It should definately be reported, insurance fraud is illegal. I worked for an independent shop for a short period time. They were doing an insurance job on a CBR 600. The owner was buying used Ebay parts instead of new OEM for the repair. This kind of stuff happens.
