I am certain the media would LOOOVE to cover this story. It would probably be a national story for all the wrong reasons.
I know what you are saying but the press would have to make up their own story I am sure everyone would be well behaved and maybe support a couple local businesses.

Everyone's got good ideas and input. I agree i was like yah! Now I'm like nah no myself. Not seeming like such a good idea now.

The positive image, community service aspect is a good idea tho.

True
Something like free basic gun training classes might be good publicity.

At the same time it seems that anything "gun" related isn't as big of an issue when it says out of the media for awhile.

^^^ Now we're talkin!
Picking up trash on the road side, while carrying rifles, then go to the gun range while bring escorted by local leos... It would be a positive message for bikes AND guns.
We could all wind up on national TV! Maybe it would start a shirt of grass roots movement.
Seriously, it might be worth a try

The CNN Headline:

Bikers Show Up in Force Carrying Assault Weapons
-Sends local community into panic

Police Round up Bikers Brandishing Assault Weapons on Freeway
-Can the local police contain gun owners?

Very sad truth whether it happened like that or not.

Nah, gotta grow a set sometime. Have the cops in on it from the beginning, call the media to tell them it's an organized event.
Nothing bad is gonna happen.
Need somebody in charge to ensure there's no ammo involved. Keep it in a chase car for when we get to the range.
Need somebody willing to talk to the media if they show up, to explain what's going on.
More than anything need somebody to organize it and make sure what the rules will be, figure out where we will do the trash pickup, call hpd, etc.

sorry, i love my guns, l love gun rights... i just do not like being in a crowd full of people with guns that i have no idea how they handle their arms...I am kind of a gun safety nut and until i know how someone handles their weapon, I do not want to be with them...lots of folks have weapons as their right to do so, but i would not want them with me because i do not feel that they are safe to be around...
i choose who i hunt with on the same basis...having a hunting license and a gun does not mean i am going to hunt with someone.
this is not something i would participate in.

Do you ever go to a shooting range or just at the ranch?

Same here!! I will go..talk to media...what ever..just won't be bringing my weapon to be confiscated and have to pay all sorts to get it back...not worth it.. other ways to get this attention, and not have to pay for it!

If we can get LEO excorts, signed permit of some sort. I will bring my weapon but we must have ammo free just for safety purposes...

i usually go check out a range and how it operates before i go shooting there...
i will not shoot at a range that does not have a good set of operating rules and an effective range marshall... that said i have not gone shooting at a public range in a long time...the last two times i have been to a public range was for renewals on my chl...so you know how often i go...i have been to a few ranges that i feel are not safely operated, either poor rules or poor range marshall.

I saw a couple of kids in cypress riding with guns strapped to their backs. Looked like bandits.

That's got to be uncomfortable. And unsafe. And unnecessary
