Speeding ticket!

Was in colorado county by fayetteville and was caught speeding along with 2 other riders. Havnt had a speeding ticket in 10 yrs. Was going 25 over. Officer said we can take defensive driving but the paper with the ticket says we can not. So do I just pay the fine and take the hit on my record?

Find an attorney who can fight for you in that county/city, and fight the ticket. Don't take the hit- it will cost you so much more in the long run.

Call the clerk, and talk with them. If the officer said you can take the class, you should be able to.

Ticket probably meant you cant take deffered. Dont know. If you can take deffered, go that route and you wont have to pay an attorney. You just cant get ticketed within the same county for 90 days

Once upon a time... I had gotten a 27 over ticket, at court I asked the prosecutor for Defensive Driving, they said O.K., but when I went to pay the "clerk" she said I was unable, or not allowed. (over 24 MPH over).
I went back to the prosecutor and told them the problem, I asked if the Judge would lower the MPH so I could take the course, or I would have to "fight" the ticket. The prosecutor was able to get the Judge to lower the MPH and I was able to take the course

Merry Christmas

I don't think they operate in that area, but I use the Hersom Law Firm. I've used them 3 times. each time I pay the lawyer $150, and the ticket goes away.

The only ticket ever, in my driving career (since 1970) was on my Honda Scrambler 175 caught doing 40 in a 20 on my neighborhood street in Durango, CO. Paid the fine, and I obey the law. Good thing about a small block Guzzi: less temptation although the bike will do over 100...can't say why I know that. Enjoy your payback to society.

Thanks guys. I own up to my mistakes. My buddies and I like to go fast but only on the back country roads. The entire time we were pulled over not one car passed by. I also know speeding is speeding no matter where you are. Ill pay but dont want to take a hit on my insurance. Think I will either try to get a lawyer or ask the judge to lower the speed so I can take DD.

They don't really want to ruin your driving record. They just want your money.

Small towns need to tax passing motorists to balance their books. Just call the court clerk and ask to take DD.
