Point being I had my licence suspended for a tobacoo ticket when I refused to pay it !!

And I had my license suspended for a drunk driving accident, what's your point? For every exception to a rule, there are those for whom the rule was written in the first place.

FWIW, doesn't matter how you "feel" about it. I am 99.9% sure that when someone in a car or bike or even on foot chooses to "run" as opposed to stoping and having a conversation with a uniformed officer, it means they are of a certian mind set which is inherently dangerous to themselves and others.

him. IMHO....

Guy runs from traffic ticket? Shoot him, seems legit. Expired inspection sticker? broken arm. Speeding twice the speed limit? Ritual disembowelment.

It's important we take a strong stance on crime after all.

To clarify, I don't know the circumstance of the shooting, so I can't judge if it was justified. I'm just appaled by the "he broke the law so he deserved to get shot" mentality I'm seeing.

Well.... I don't think anyone (would have to go back and read) has said it was appropriate for the officer to "shoot at" your buddy.

Everything I have seen is you and your buddy if you choose to run and you get what you get and don't pitch a fit....

Merry Christmas!

Never can understand why someone wants to run. You're in trouble anyway and you will get caught. I'm against high speed pursuits. Too many chances of innocents getting hurt. They need to pass a law against it. They could simply take down the licence plate number and look up where he/she lives and get them there.

Maybe you'd be better served it you tried to educate yourself a little bit first then.

yup, because people never try to obscure plates, remove them or steal a plate from one vehicle to put on another....

You're right about that. Still, they need to do something else besides chase them all over town in highly populated areas.

I wouldn't bother to get a plate if the cops wouldn't chase

I heard on the news a few days ago an unarmed older woman was shot 4 times to death for rolling her window up on a police officer during a traffic stop.

i wonder how many bad guys, murders, rapists, child molestors, bank robbers have been busted over the years in a traffic stop....
and if it turned out that a cop did not chase someone who ran and later it turns out the runners was a child molestor and he molested several more children before he was stopped, when it came out that he had been let go because a cop did not chase, what would folks say then....
life happens and you can not take the risk out of it...it is not just about a speeding ticket when someone runs... we all know that any reasonable person does not run to avoid a ticket...so when somone runs a cop has to consider that there is more than likely a reason worth running for, and that means go get him...don't blame the cops for doing their job, blame the bad guy who runs...and if anything bad happens as a result of the running, charge the runner with that too...

that is a really good " i did not say anything" accusation...
what news agency reported that, and why is it not traceable on line?
and in the off chance that is not pure bullshit, what would that have to do with a chase situation?
