2006 crf450?

What do you think you would pay for a reasonably good condition 2006 crf450 to make a tard out of?

I would say a good range for 450r's would be somewhere between $1,800 to $2,500, maybe a little more depending on condition and extras.

The 450x's are hard to find under 3k.

KKB isn't a good source of value info for mx bikes. Otherwise, cheap dirbikes would be all over CL rather than here and there

My advice is to buy one that is already done. It adds up quick and factor in a rebuild to the price of any 7 year old dirt bike you buy. Buy the time you are done you will have $5k in a bike of unknown condition internally. Add another $1500 for a rebuild and you will be at $6,500 for a bike with a good engine, wheels, okay brakes, and offroad suspension. If you bought used parts and did all the work yourself you could get it done for cheaper but you can buy one already decked out and race ready for $5k. Check out these as examples.

part of the fun is building it the way you want it...
I am not in any hurry, the biggest problem for me so far is that all the ones i have found that i would be interested were too much money because of all the upgrades they did for dirt... upgrades that are of no value to me because i am just going to take them off...

There is a crf already converted here in Louisiana for sale for something like 2500. Let me check the local forum when I get home.

Don't spend more than $2,000.

That's from my experience anyway. I'd shoot closer to $1700.

Sure...if you don't mind the drive to Cedar Park. Also, standing rules that I have when I store other's bikes that have been in effect for well over 20 years:

1. I'll probably clean them up.

2. I will definitely ride them.

that is why i did not buy that DRZ in your area, it is sprung to light for both of us.
you would not recognize your old crf I bought from you... not with KX front end on it and the new takagawa rear shock and all black plastics...it looks a lot better than i ride.

http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/3470042369.html XR 400 I'd go this route, then no high strung 450 issues. I had one years ago as a tard and loved it. Not as fast as the CRF450's but not too much terribly slower. And MUCH cheaper to maintain. Wish I still had it.

edit: found this too, older but new top end,
