Ducati 916,996,998's...... Pros/cons?

What are some issues that these are known for. What to look for when buying? What's the best bang for your buck in the market right now? Major differences?
Thanks.

oh , where to begin. It would be easier if you knew which one you were looking at. Every year and model has different issues, plus or minus

Hahah true. Every one have their own "signature" problems.

Well, if I could I'd buy a 1098,but seeing as I would rather not blow a ton of money on something that won't be ridden often(see r6 track bike that just sits in my garage lol)

The 916,996 and 998 has always be a great looking bike to me and my favorite flavor of Ducati.

I'm selling my 848 if you're interested. It's not as exotic as the big ducks with the dry clutch chatter though.

Value-wise the 916 is probably the best. They were the groundbreaker, the 998 would probably be next just because I think it was made in the lowest numbers. If I had my druthers I'd buy a 999s, I love the unique look, I think it is much more in the design spirit of the 916 in terms of breaking the mold. The 1098/1198/1199 are just evolving the 916 look, the 999 stands alone.

Check with Paul S, I understand that there are certain points at the MSRH track that they are strongly and unexpectedly attracted to contact with tarmac.

Your results may differ....

I would say the biggest issue with the Desmoquatro engines were the flaking rockers. They were supposed to have the problem fixed with the 998, but people still report to have flaking issues. /the 998s are supposed to be stronger, less labor intensive.

The 916,996 and 998 has always be a great looking bike to me and my favorite flavor of Ducati.
916- beginning of an era of shear beauty. Prices holding strong. Parts not as abundant, but classic.
996 - still getting classic look but with upgrading wheels and power. Superbike power and braking but rockers had major issues and some were not fixed under warranty. Lots of parts around. Best bargain currently.
998- classic styling with all superbike power in updated motor, less on the road and prices are relatively high. Testratta motor, with minor changes in body styling.

No hospital...doc in a box. He's not quite worth a hospital trip.

My story is that he tried to out brake me into a turn which, didn't turn out well. His story may be conflicting lol

Yeah, WTF is it with me and Ducati brakes? And, no, Staton, I still do not remember it...the crash, that is. The banana? You said you wouldn't tell.
Chris, I DO remember the GSS incident. It seems your version could possibly be just a little off...I'm just sayin.
