Tinted shield or clear with shades?

Upgrading from my off brand helmet that had built in tinted shield to the Rf-1100. Should I stay clear shield and wear shades, or pay the $$ for a tinted one? How safe is it for the face to wear shades under the shield? Thanks..

I have the same helmet, have done it both ways, prefer the tinted shield, the more layers your looking thru the more your depth perception is off

Tinted. I've done both and Houston is well-lit enough that you'll be able to see on the vast majority of streets and roads with no difficulty.

I do both, oakley wired sunglasses fit perfectly around my head and usually when I know I'm gonna be home before sunset i switch to tinted, depth perception is also affected with lack of a clear view,I would never trust my tinted visor at night, a box on the freeway can easily be misinterpreted for a shadow....just do both if u can

I have the same helmet. I had a gold shield, but the blue one that I have now really brightens up the road.

Why not both?

All my Arai helmets come with clear and I buy a tinted for each then keep the spare in my tank bag. Just change as needed.

I heard of a guy years ago that used shades while riding track and had an accident and his sunglases cut his face around the eyes, supposedly he still has scars.

I had one helmet tinted, the other clear. I found that if I rode too long with my "day" helmet on, and the sun went down, I couldnt see !
Once I upgraded my helmet, I wont ride with anything BUT a clear shield.

If I get caught in the dark, it really sucks. Have to go to Lowe's, and buy clear safety glasses.

This ^

I have a shield sleeve I keep whichever one I am not using.

If it is really bright, I will have the tinted shield and sunglasses on.

I need to stick one of those tint strips on the top of the tinted ones.

Seems like the tinted is the way to go, guess I'll have to invest in a tank bag... Any tinted recommendations that seem to work better, ie: smoke, chrome, silver, blue...?
