Bike Therapy - Ducati 900 SS SP

So...last night I didn't go to sleep until 4:30 AM. Those kids and teachers getting murdered by a wacko, the families affected, the responders, etc. Usually I notice bad events like this and move on with things as it happens, but this one really had me at...well....the whole thing.

Got up about 9:00 (slacker that I am), then played Santa Claus for the neighborhood. Got to ride in a Fire Truck and throw candy to the kids. Day was getting better.

Picked up the Duc. It's been a long road to a full on re-freshening and it needed a little help with the fuel pump that my Mongo self did not have the patience to deal with. It is now all good to go. Engine, Suspensions, paint, battery, tires, chain, sprockets, etc...

Hit a few roads nearby. Lime Creek to Volente Beach, Mansfield Dam, Volente Beach via Lime Creek again, neighborhood that didn't get finished with great sweeping turns, few other higher speed runs to test the Duc out.

Got a lot of thumbs up while waiting in traffic and even had a Sheriff just signal for me to slow it down a bit as I was finishing up Lime Creek Road. (no ticket, no signal to pull over)

Head is now clear, life is back on track. I'll be sleeping like a baby tonight. May just have to repeat tomorrow.

I freaking love my old Duc. Not the fastest, not the newest, but the perfect mechanical definition in my mind of "motorcycle" when I think of one.

Pics...

Found a development that didn't get fully developed, but has great winding roads with some elevation changes and no traffic.

That is awesome Buddy!!

I have intentionally avoided the news for the very same reason. Those poor kids.

I wish I could have gone with you.

I had a hard time sleeping myself. Bought my 900 today; but decided to leave it at the seller's house due to rain down here in Houston. I did test drive it in the neighborhood and can't wait to take it out on the back roads. Ill shoot you some pics later on.

I've always like the old 9's, my favorite being 916. The newer Ducs sure are nice, but I can't help but feel that along with the power and refinement, they've lost some of that quintessential Italian quirkiness that made them so endearing in years past.

PC2, congrats on another fine V-twin!

Newer is not always better. Sometimes technology and engineering make a perfect marriage.

Good for you.

Crazy weather here this AM....gonna have to take a rain (and lightning) check on a ride today, unless things dramatically improve. We'll take the 900 SL out with the SP and tear up some roads soon. Boomer festival fer sure.

Thanks for all the comments.

The 900 Supersports are in the 380 - 400 lb range depending on model and modifications. HP ranges from the 70's-low 90's depending on cc's and mods and of course, the dyno.
