He sewed his eyes shut because he is afraid to see
He tries to tell me what I put inside of me
"Hes got the answers to ease my curiosity
He dreamed a up and called it christianity
Your is dead and no one cares
If there is a I will see you there

He flexed his muscles to keep his flock of sheep in line
He made a virus that would kill off all the swine
His perfect kingdom of killing, suffering and pain
Demands devotion atrocities done in his name
Your is dead and no one cares
Drowning in his own hypocrisy
And if there is a I will see you there
Burning with your in humility
Will you die for this? "

NIN-Heresy

Is this demeaning of Christianity? Sorry

For the record I never once mentioned science in what I discussed. This is a thread that is better off to let die before feathers get ruffled.

If you never ask your questions, they will never get answered. Ask them, for your benifit and for others who may be reading as well.
Religion is a difficult subject only if you let it be. I'm comfortable enough with what I do and do not know to answer in what I feel to be a correct manner, and, for the questions I do not have an answer for, I am forced to research until I have one. For myself, it is a win-win situation.

Also someone else had brought up the question about why are you the religion you are, for myself, it is because the Bible is the only book I have read that I have felt a change in my life afterwards. I have read other books and I have read of other religions, but none of them have had the effects on myself and my life like what I get from the Christian Bible.

Also, for those who say that they shun Christianity because of the inequity they see in church, you should not let that stop you from being a good Christian. The world is full of inequity, and just because you carry the title of pastor or deacon or what have you, it does not exempt you from the punishment of sin and accountability. I to see many churches as more of a profit engineered entity, selling promises of worldly fame and wealth to the people in return for a tithe.

It is wrong, yes, however, it is stated in the Bible that these things would come to be and we are given instructions on how to proceed. It should also not stop you from finding a good Church to visit. Even if you do not belong to a Church as a full fledged member, it would do you good to stop in for a visit from time to time. You will find, that there will be times that you are dealing with a problem in your life, and oddly enough the sermon that day/night at church will be about your specific problem and how the Bible teaches to deal with it. speaks to you in a variety of ways, and through the Church is just one of them.

A fundamental part of Christianity that people tend to forget, is forgiveness. There are no perfect humans, and certainly, there are no perfect Christians. Being a Christian does not mean you are exempt from mistakes, it does not mean you are better than the person down the street who does not believe. It means you have accepted Jesus as your Savior.

Everyone falls in a pig pen at some point in their life, unfortunatly, we have too many people who want to point out the stench, instead of offering to help cleanse it away.

Finally, Hi Jrock, glad to see I haven't been totally forgotten. I'll be around from time to time but for a bit I'm limited. We are in between bosses now (as you can see by the daily ac dept manager needed ad in the job section of the paper) and after conferring with a friend of mine we decided it would be in our best interest to restrict our internet usage until after the new boss is brought in and we can gauge his character for such things. (ie: we are waiting to see if we get a hard or not)

In the mean time I'll be in and out when I can, and good to see you all again. If your going to MSR next week I'll see you there

One question... Why not take all those tax free investments that build huge annoying buildings full of unquestioning people and let’s say..... feed hungry people?

Show me where Jesus asked to build structures of grandeur in his name.

My mothers church requires her to "donate" 15% of her income. I wasn't aware the bible gave a specific amount to donate.

Do I believe in ? Yes,

Do I go to church to profess my beliefs? No

Do I think that that not going makes me believe in him less? No

According to the bible, if you don't go to church and praise his name then simply believeing in him is not good enough. You are suppose to go to church and sing his name in song and praise him. Also you are not a good christian if you are not spreading his word to non believers and the uninformed.

Do I believe in . Yes, and Jesus and the Holy Spirit too.

Do I go to church, yes because I want to be around other believers and try to do more for the Lord. I think you need to be around other believers to help strengthen your faith because the world is the devils and he is a busy camper trying to fool people into believing there is no .

This entire thing is subject to interpretation depending on what religious sect you belong to and what you believe. The bible as we know it is a compilation of written texts and books. The old testament comes primarily form the jewish tanakh. The new testament consists of written books by many individuals to tell the story of the life of Jesus and was written after his death, sometimes centuries after. The word Christianity wasn't coined until the 2nd century AD. Many gospels were written but were edited out by the Early Christian Church of Rome, today know as the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church. The Early Christian Church of Rome split during the Great Schism in the 11th century.

What I am trying to get at is the entire subject of what makes someone a good Christian or not is subject to individual interpretation. What you have to ask yourself is what do you believe in and what your religious beliefs mean to you.
