Well, where you are going would help. Fresh or Salt water?

I usually go out in Matagorda Bay but, that is because my Grandpa lives there.

freshwater..

houston county lake (2 hours north)

fayetteville county lake (1 1/2 west)

lake fork (5 hours north)

thats pretty much the only lakes i have found that are worth going to...
normally make a 1 1/2 day trip out of it.

no the fact that you have to know what you are doing.. anyone can pull in a 2 pound bass.. im go to those 3 lakes to get the 10# + bass.. and the art is in catching the smart old fish.. or ....... anyone can drop a fake fish into a gagillion gallons of ocean and wait on something to bite it.. my dad loves saltwater fishing bc he can hang out and drink and its a laid back time... he also freshwater fishes with me and my brother in law but it wears him down bc he is casting all day and has to pay attention to what the is going on. as far as reeling them in... ya the big ocean fish is harder... but when i comes to catching something to be proud of.. freshwater is the challenge.

Well fishing is fishing and it is all about drinking beer, smoking blunts and hanging out with buds. So, if you like to wear yourself down doing it, more power to you but, I like to chill when I fish.

I prefer to fish saltwater when possible. Snag some HD poles and head out to the 88th street pier across from the puttputt place on the seawall. You'll catch fish, and have a good time doing it.

When we fish up here on Lake Conroe we "jugfish" for big catfish. After sundown we head out and drop baited bleach jugs with glowsticks in'em and proceed to drink beer. When the jugs moves, go check it out. Whenthe jug disappears underwater. . .Put your fightin face on b/c it's usually a big fish.

I love to fish but more Saltwater, My dad has two boats down in matagorda, one for the bays and one for offshore. We do alittle spear fishing and diving offshore as well. Freshwater the fish just dont fight as hard as a big red fish, a huge spec, or a JACK fish!
