I have only done the one in Ireland.... The good is that the scenery is just beautiful and the tour guide makes the whole trip a lot more fun stopping in places that normal tourist wont find on the map or tourist guides.... The bad is that you can only ride the bikes at a controlled pace, most of their rental bikes have a speed limiter on them.

Rented a bike in Ireland as well. Stared off in Shannon went along the coast, took a trip around the Ring of Kerrey, saw the Cliffs of Mohr, Blarney Castle, and ended back in Dublin. Had a few pints at Dirty Nelly's!

where exactly in europe are you going? different laws for different places....when i was stationed in germany all i needed was my tx dl and army card, pass their drivers test (questions only) and i could drive anywhere in europe. since your not going as military every place will be different.

Go for a small cc as they're cheaper, gas is outrageous, and you don't need temptation to get into trouble. Just cruise around and enjoy.

Let me know how it turns out. Next time I go to Switzerland, I'd like to rent one.

Meaner and Indy rented bikes in Scotland last year. They seemed to enjoy it, but IMO it might not be as fun as they hinted as it rained daily and was cold...

I was stuck in the wagon with the kids. NEVER take a trip like that with teenagers. FYI.

Kraze Kris rented 599 Hornets in Sicily on a few occasions. Like $25 Euro per day, cheaper than an economy car. Just have to have a valid MC license and be over 18 I think.

Did you rent a bike back then? I'm going there in September and plan on renting one over the weekend.

Man, I wish I'd have known that was an option! I've done that trip twice (once solo, once w. the ex) both times in rental cars.

Of course, packing 30# of camera gear might have been a hassle.
