Keep in mind he said 6th gear. Not really a good comparison. Because no one would do a roll-on "race" in 6th gear.

Comparing a V-twin to a newer I-4 (performance-wise) is worthless.

RC51s and Dus 996/998/999s were developed to beat ZX7Rs and GSXR 750s. Which in WSBK the Duc and RC51 had no problems doing.

The newer Ducs 999 and 1098 are a different story, but those are a little out of my price range and yours too I assume (no offense intended).

If you want an RC51 I think you'll really enjoy it. Every other bike I've owned I've gotten the itch for something different about 6 months later. Not with my RC51. I've had it 3 years now, and still get a -eating grin under my helmet everytime I ride it.

Performance-wise to modern day sportbikes, it's about equal to the new 600s.

But, as you know with any modern sportbike (not including straightline drags & roll-ons) being faster is all about the rider. Period. No debate. I am pretty quick around TWS (Texas World Speedway) on my RC51 and I still laugh (mental humbling of thyself) when I get passed in a flash by a superior rider on an SV650, or a super motard for that matter.:laughing6

I can sum it up for you this way.

An RC51 will leave you w/ 2 things. Crappy gas mileage and a grin from ear to ear. buttrock

why is it that everytime this gets brought up, no matter what forum its on, theres always a match????:BangHead: get the bike YOU like and FU(K what everyone else thinks. If you're a new rider you won't be able to ride the thing to its full potential anyway, at least for a while....just my .02 cents

That's the fact. RC51 is equivalent to 800-825cc inline4. Believe it or not, it could also out run a zx9r and 900RR but not the 929 or 954RR.
