What I am gathering is that Honda motors seem to be more durable than the others; but that isn't taking anything away from the other 3. Like others have stated it depends on how you ride and maintain your machine.

Some Volvo supposedly holds the world record for the highest mileage. Does that mean Volvo makes the best engine? Hardly. It just mean that guy drives a boatload of easy going miles and weren't bored driving the same car for 30 yrs. The same can be said about anybody's high mileage motorcycle. Just about any engine can be driven a long while if you are willing to go through with it.

To me, the BEST engine is one that performs better than any other engine in the INTENDED APPLICATION. For a race engine, longevity isn't necessarily a design attribute at the top of priority list. For a 200 mile race, the engine that wins the race, then dies on the victory lap at 200.9 mile mark is far better than every other engine in the field that are still good for 2 more races.

If I'm into iron rallies and keep my touring bikes for a long while, then I might care more about mileage. Otherwise, there are plenty of other criteria by which to judge an engine. By most of the definitions expressed here, Ducati engines would be near the bottom of the barrel. Judged on their visceral and emotion appeal, the Desmo twins have no equals to the diehard Ducatisti.

think a lot depends on the owner. a well made engine treated/ridden like wont last as long as a well maintained engine.

As far as suzuki engines, I don't recall ever hearing about someone killing a (relatively stock) Bandit 1200. I know my engine (belonged to "klassik" before me) had close to 80k before it was dropped in a Katana frame, and I've seen several others over 100k on the max-zuk site. Best bang-for-the-buck bike in my opinion.

I think Hondas are the most reliable, i've owned a few of them before and they have never broken down on me! I want to believe the BMW S1000RR is a reliable machine but i dont get to ride as much as i want now so i dont ride enough miles per year to make a claim of its reliability.
