I used to.

Then my license was dangling above a pit of fire for 6 long months.
I haven't started again, but I don't hit many red lights anymore.

On my whole commute to work, I hit a single light, the other ones are timed, so I just fall into the groove.

I just stay in the middle of 2 lanes behind the last car and pray the car behind me stops.

I dont split to get to a red light but I am guilty of splitting to pass cars blocking the left turn lane. why wait behind cars when there's an entire open lane over there

Never got caught. Passed a state trooper once, but he was stuck in traffic. Lol.

I split to get to a u-turn blocked up by a train crossing just today. One guy actually pulled up a bit to make it easier to get by...most of the time some a-hole scoots out in front of me, like smashing up someones bike is going to make him feel better about sitting in traffic.

I avoid lights, but sometimes I'm naughty when someone is texting in the left lane

Not worth a ticket or a possible road rage motorist trying to cut you off from doing so, IMO.

I have done in the past but unfortunately cagers here either do not expect bikes splitting and pull late lane changes themselves without looking or think they have a duty to stop you doing it by blocking, hand gestures or in one case wave a gun at me!

I never filter in Texas. It is illegal and dangerous because we lack cooperation between car drivers and riders. It's also not the kind of thing that helps our image as riders and puts us at risk of having laws passed against us. I have been commuting daily in Houston traffic by bike since the 80's accident free in part because I don't do foolish things like lane splitting.

In other places I ride like California, London and Paris the car drivers work together with riders to make it safe and acceptable. Thats where I lane split (filtering) but never here. It's not something that most long-term riders would do.

I didn't used to but I had less than a5 mile commute. Now that I have a 20 mile commute in heavy traffic with morons who can drive I find myself doing alot of things I used to not do.

I don't do it often, but if traffic is stopped 3 light cycles deep you bet your I make my way to the front very slowly as to avoid road rage drivers who think you and your bike going to the front of the line is slowing them down.

Same here and there is only one light I hit like that. I always wait for all the cars to stop shifting around then I go. I try to time it to when I get to the light it turns green so I don't have to hang out to long waiting. The rest of the time it's usually not worth it for me and more focused on making it home with no incidents.
