2009 CBR 1000RR Fairing removal?

I really don't want to break anything on my bike, but I have no idea how to remove the fairings. I want to install the new full exhaust I got, but don't know how to get off the side fairings. Anyone have any experience in doing this? If you feel like you wanna help, I'll pay for your time or buy beers, dinner, whatever. Thanks all.

The is like origami! The worst thing about cbr's. There are some solenoid and flappers that are in the intake tubes ( at least on my 08). I removed those and plugged the vacuum lines or whatever they are. There is no easy way just set aside some time and go slow. I still hate having to pull them. Seems like I found some help on the web. Good luck

Cool. I'll see if I can search. If this becomes too much of a pain, I may take it to Motorcycles Unlimited and ask them to install the headers when they take the bike apart to do the other mods. lol.

^^^ Great link Lone_rider! I haven't removed my upper sides yet, but the lowers are pretty easy. You just have to be patient, and not force anything.

Do you have a new set of gaskets for the exhaust?

I'll be picking them up tomorrow. Problem is, I cant find the EXISTING gaskets. Theyre not on the headers when I pull them off and I dont see them in the exhaust ports. I'm sure theyre there, but ill have to dig them out. The bike only has 1000 miles so theyre still pretty new.

Probably flattened out. Be careful pulling them out since the aluminum is soft in that area.

it actually took me only 30 min to remove all the fairings and install them. hardest part is just the ram air area. i just man handled it and it was a breeze.

HOLY that was murder!! Got it done between last night and this morning though. Jesus. But the exhust sounds great and looks nice. Not as nice as my taylormade was, but I wanted the full system so gotta make a compromise. Thanks guys for the help and reminding me what a this was. lol. Now I can take to Motorcycles Unlimited for the Engine mods and they can check to make sure I put the fairings back right. lol.

Oh, and if you guys gotta pull out your fairings, easiest way to put them back, spray the edges with WD40. AWESOME.

I laughed out loud just reading the title of this thread. The only complaint I have about this bike. Looks good bro

Thanks all! I'm hype about getting the right map put on it and riding it around. To be honest, I haven't ridden the thing in months, I just keep upgrading it. Lol
