Interest in moto day at a small municipal airport?

There are hundreds of small municipal airports across Texas and I frequent them with my pops. They are often completely unattended which has tempted me to get some asphalt carving in but I would really like to set up an event. A typical one runway municipal will have enough taxiway to have an epic road race and of course some speed runs on the strip.

I know this sounds ridiculous and a stretch but it does happen and just takes paperwork and time. I'm going to start piecing something together for the offseason. Attempt to do it legit. It would involve waivers and probably whichever county we end up providing some form of oversight. Many of the "mile" races across the nation do this. It's definitely possible.

Yeah but the strip doesn't have taxiways , buildings, etc. it's like the formula races in Dallas at Addison. And yeah as I stated I know it's difficult but obviously do-able bc it's been done....whatever we'll just go blackout and NVG's.

Ill get a list of the most empty airports near towns and start it up. it could e used to draw people to a small town....pair it with some rally or something. Or a sisters ride, Navasota, something like that. This is just a feeler any who

There's also ordinances against sanctioned street racing....yet it happens. All we need is a property owner (likely the county we choose) as to draft up some additions to a basic waiver.

I like the idea, but doubt you'd get a large enough draw to fund it. You'll need a "staff" to run the event, & that qty might limit you to just drag or road course. I wonder if any of the diehard track guys would be game for a one day track, or if working on lines for a particular track is the larger draw. Also, you may race between buildings, you won't have barriers.... So you better have runoff & plenty of spotters... Especially if anything is blind.

There will always be naysayers but don't let them slow you down. There are other events like this around, so obviously it can be done. Ya just gotta, want to.
Just a thought for anybody that might be tempted to do it without permission, you know, cuz there ain't nobody around...
Airports are ALL controlled by the FAA and they frown pretty hard on unauthorized antics. Typical gubment, they don't like fun.

Yeah man I agree. I was out at Hobby getting my bike around 3am. It stays well inside the fences of hobby so I got the chance to talk to Houston 5-0 on duty about being a jackass and joyriding the airport. He informed me that there's an alarmingly low number of Fuzz inside the fence.

Cost is kinda high for those.
And i was thinking he meant a roadcourse type setup around the strip. I know F1 used to do that, and it worked quite well.

Isnt it easier to just go to Mexico? It has been done many times without any 5.0 intervention at all!
