you don't need a cmra lic to race tmgp, if you have a cmra lic. you are exempt from taking the tmgp riders test.

I talked to Denny at the track day and he said with our 2005 licenses we will just have to pay to renew them and the schedule should be up soon. The season should start mid march again. I believe they had some issues getting it together due to some other events.

For the new teams with multiple new riders that aren't exempt from the new riders school.. you may need to arrange to have an extra bike available to take the class with. I'm not sure how it works, or if you're allowed to split time on a bike for the class portion. Somebody might want to ask on the TMGP forum just to be on the safe side.

define big bike! your F4? no way. teh track is only 0.4 mile long

Located northwest of Katy, Texas, Gulf Coast Kartway is a 0.4 mile paved road racing course with a 500í main straight and a variety of left-hand and right-hand corners that are designed to provide a challenging, competitive and fun racing experience for the drivers. Depending on the race day, the track can be run either clockwise or counter-clockwise, in essence providing (2) very different track configurations for our members. Providing a safe racing facility is paramount to Gulf Coast Karters, Inc. as the track is surrounded with large run-off areas throughout the facility. The track was completely repaved in 2003 using specifically formulated asphalt that has produced a durable, consistent and exceptionally smooth racing surface for the drivers.

It says on the website that it's construction has been at a stand still with all the rain that we've been getting lately.

Grid positions are random.

Any prior year license can be renewed.

The first race weekend you must complete the rider's school and some sprint races to be allowed to run endurance the FOLLOWING race weekend. New teams in novice are basically screwed as they bring new team members up to date.

I can fill in for new team members who do not have a license. I also have extra bikes they can take the rider's school on.

carbonr1, paniro/charles sent me a link to your question thread on the moto houston site. i don't have time to join but here are the answers to the questions you have so far... at least the ones you didn't answer for them. if they have any others, feel free to post them here and stuart will tell you everything you need to know. PS, the track is a little longer than you posted... but not much

1.when will the schedule be up for 2007
Linda just told me hopefully by the end of the week and to keep checking the site. usually we have one by now but the date we set was taken back by the track so we are waiting until we have a solid date. you can be certain they won't overlap CMRA races, tho they may be on holidays.

2. If we had a lic. for TMGP 2 years ago 2005, will it still be valid for 2007?
you have to buy a new license each year regardless. i think it's only $30. if you had one in the recent past you won't have to take the class, just pay for the license at registration. if you've raced w/ another known roadracing club (cmra, wera, etc) in the recent past, bring that license and you won't have to take the class. if you've never raced anywhere you have to take the class. if you have the completion thingie from LSTD saying you have taken the class for CMRA, that is good w/ us too

3. how are grid position determined.
random. superbike experts on the front rows... but you don't want us behind you coming into turn 1 . oh, that's for endurance. they are completely random for sprints. it gives everybody a chance to be on the front row

if there are anymore questions, let me know and i'll get em posted up on their board until someone gets the chance to join us here and help us out more.

Looks like we may have to sit in for each others teams if everybody can not get licensed.
