Angry What would you do?!?!

long story but here it goes... i took my bike into this "bike shop" about a month and a half ago to get my valve cover gasket replaced, they had it in the shop twice as long as they had previously told me and made me miss a track day. upon getting it back it was acting weird and misfiring, instead of returning the bike for another extended stay in the shop i decided to find out what it was myself (it turned out to be a ripped spark plug boot(their fault)) but when i started taking the fairings off gas started pouring EVERYWHERE. it turns out that they lost a fairng bolt that holds one of the triangle side pieces to the tank that was 1/2" long. so they replaced it with a 1" screw using some sort of power tool to screw it in, successfully piercing my $1000 tank.... beyond i brought it back the next day, he said he couldnt afford a new tank so he offered to weld the hole, seal the tank, pop out this dent i had in the tank, and paint the bike to make amends. i took it in on Wednesday with a forecasted 3 day turn around which ended up being 8 days. On the 7th day i posted on my facebook about how displeased was with the shop, apparently my post was somehow forwarded to the owner, shortly thereafter i received a phone call from the owner, he began by cussing me out and told me i can pick up my bike from the alley in peices then i received messages from the owner's friends who i've never met before threatening me... really professional. i finally received my bike back with a very paint job, i.e. bubbles, scratches, unsanded areas, no primer coat, one coat of paint, and no clear coat! i wouldnt ever recommend this shop to my worst enemy. TO TOP IT ALL OFF, my valve cover seal (the reason it was originally in the shop) AND my tank are STILL LEAKING!!! so the questions is what would you do if someone punctured your gas tank, gave you an abomination of a paint job to try to compensate, failed to replace a valve seal correctly and is currently avoiding your phone calls/hanging up on you? WHAT WOULD YOU DO?!?!?!?!

File a certified letter stating that you will take matters to a civil court if he doesn't respond in the time frame you give him(usually 30 days.)

I would not call them anymore I would consider Small Claims court.

Send them a demand letter first. You may want to take it to the dealer and get an estimate. You may even need to get it all fixed FIRST then send them a demand letter for the cost. Actually, send two letters, one regular mail, and one registered mail.

Make sure you send it to the correct person too! THis is very important. I thik you got to look up the buisness somewhere (secutary of state website comes to mind for some reason) and find out who their agent is. Check the peoples lawyer webpage for info. It was pretty easy, I did it all form my office except when you pay the court the $69 for the court cost (you can sue for this $$ too).

What shop?

I must admit, hearing you tell what happened, and then say it was one of the sponsors on this board, was a shock.
I have never heard of any of the sponsors on here doing anything like that.
I would definately like to know who it was and hear their side of the story.

their side of the story is i pierced the gas tank myself except i only use my tool kit that came with the bike (4" long alllen wrench), that doesnt contain power tools, also ive had the bike since it was new and this was the only shop its ever been to (it went in with OEM bolts). not to mention the fact that you wouldnt offer to fix the tank, and paint the bike pro bono unless you were pretty certain you were responsible for said damage. am i right?
