The search for the ULTIMATE Motorcycle Camera

So, I recently destroyed my Swann camera.. The mount broke off..
The BOX/ BRICK shaped cameras like gopro and Swann are out of the question for me...they are just too big and bulky...no aerodynamics..the mounts break. Even with a special home made mount there's too much viberation...
So, the cam may just have to be mounted to my helmet......

The Contour and replay XD seem to be more fitting for helmets...
Any input ?

i've seen gopros crashed ontop of James Stewart's head and remain recording and mounted to the top of his helmet...is that not fitting?

i have no experience with contour or replay.

Sport bikes produce more viberations and more wind resistance on the camera...and for longer periods of time...that box cam mounted on the helmet also puts stress on the neck..

Maybe the camera doesn't like to be in your junk bike, it wants a quality bike like a Honda.

Sony's new action camera would fit the bill.

or for the most robust mount you can find this will work.

The go pro is a square shaped camera while the contour is like a cylinder.....go pro has more drag and I can picture it hurting someone neck if you ride a long distance....there's chest mounts for go pro but helmet mount is the best angle to see things

I've got the contour hd, contour roam, and now a countour +2. Only problem I ever had was on the contour +2, I set my helmet down kind of hard and the door flew off because the battery clip broke, but that's getting fixed, and never had a problem with the battery clip on the HD. Strongest point on this camera is the ease of recording, you slide the switch forward and it records. So no more "hey is my light blinking?" Also the aiming laser is pretty handy.

My only real complaint is the mounts, the lens rotates, but most of the mounts are fixed which means you have to stick them at the right angle for your shot, and they're going to stay there. There are a couple of mounts that do rotate, the one with the concave base is good and solid, but the one with the flat base rattles like crazy.

I saw one article where they took out the high beam, and put in a camera behind the lens. It was a sweet set up, and I believe they used a contour.

Did you notice significant vibration with your Swann? Mine was horrible mounted on the front.

i had to tighten it or it would start looking down...yes, it either vibrates or shakes...
The sony looks interesting..but still looks kinda bulky for a helmet...the replay xd is the size of a roll of nickles..
