texas tornado boot camp boys at katy

we had a good practice session at the katy track today...
there were about 13 bikes out there...
a special treat was the guys from texas tornado boot camp showed up and rode with us, it was the first time i had met any of them and it was a pleasure having them out there with us..
unfortunately i was mostly a spectator today, i got one session in and got a call from work that i needed to be on standby with my phone, so since i can not ride and use the phone, i just watched for the remainder of the day...
which also means i did not ride the new gp bike so the verdict is still out on it.
it would have been a blast to get to practice with that many bikes out there...

It was fun, I finally got the feeling back after not riding for so long and was pretty comfortable. Clockwise felt way better..

Too bad my foot got smashed so early, two more wrecks and it was just hurting too much to kick start the bike so I called it quits around 4:00. Really had a fantastic time out there though, great company as always and that makes the day real enjoyable with a stress free, helpful, easygoing, fun environment.

I hope we do more 'practice days', i got a much needed fix today.

3 total, first one just totally smushed my foot. really weird.. I wish I had seen Rob's turboslide,I feel like i really missed out on something special. I'm not sure if the most wrecks wins or if the most epic wreck wins. hmmm

It was almost like a race day with all the bikes out. I think I had 2 official crashes and a bunch of close calls. The track was slick today. Thanks again for the shirts Rob and the gas Obed.

I let my neighbor kid (16) ride my 100 with a friend around our trails, and the cops busted them and made him park the bike at another friends house.

i agree that the track was slick, i did not go down, but then again i only got to ride the one session...i took it real easy for a few laps and then began to pick up the pace a bit, i never got to race pace... the rear slid in turn two and i knew better than to push it in turn 4 after the slip in turn 2... after that lap i modified my line a bit and took turn 2 and 4 a bit wider than normal...i am sure if i had got to ride more and went to race pace,i would have cleaned a few spots on the pavement

that is a plan i had not thought about...i think i went down a total of 8 times last year between practice and race days.... turn 2 got me 3 of those times...
i was never with you on the track yesterday so i did not see how you set up for those, but i do know that with those drum brakes, while you can carry the corner speed, you are going to have to brake sooner than the other bikes
and with tires you are running, your line is going to be a bit different than mine, but if you do not like falling down, you might not want to use the line i use anyway....
how is your foot this morning

we can work on your line there, send me a pm on when ur available and we can go out to the track.. my bike may be coming apart soon but I can still come out and help ya

don't worry to much about ur drum brakes, proper maintenance and adjustment and they will be fine for sprint racing.. I can help ya out there too. drums aren't ideal but not a deal breaker either
