Official Go-Pro App released on Android

Official GoPro App Launches for Android, Control Your GoPro Camera Right From Your Phone

Quote:
Owners of the go-anywhere and do-anything GoPro cameras will be excited for this news today. GoPro has launched their official application for Android that lets you do everything that you can on the camera, on your Android device. If your GoPro is Wi-Fi BacPac enabled, you can use your phone as a remote viewfinder to see what your lens is seeing and then take pictures or video with just a click.

There are a few catches however. The app only works with certain GoPro cameras and they suggest using the app on a device with Android 4.0 or newer for best production. Other than that, if you’re looking to get some nice video of your snowboard runs, hit the link below for the download.

if you guys have to update your GoPro....I can only say "good luck". My camera was bricked after the firmware update. Good thing GoPro customer service is top notch.

Now I am curious to update my camera just to see what happens.

All in all, I think this should be a really cool app.

My girl has never let me record her, now I can just set the camera in a corner and "check my phone" to turn it on.

wait, so do I need a wifi backpack to do this with the Hero 2???

The ability to control the camera through the droid phone via wifi backpack.... I thought they already had that?
Or was it just not an "official" GoPro app? Or was it just Iphones? Did they know it WOULD be available, but wasn't yet?

Yeah, i think you would need the wifi bac-pac. Though honestly, now i'm getting all confused thinking back to which gopros had what or just had the expansion slot to upgrade.

I still want to use the remote on the bike. Though, the app would be awesome with a bumper mounted GoPro on the truck. Or make checking the view at setup easier. Then just control with with the remote.

Just make sure you're not trying to use this with a 4 year old Motorola Defy or some running 2.2. ICS and up people...

I have no experience with the app yet, so post up bugs/reviews too.

lol it actually wasn't a dig at the Defy, as the people who think older phones run the latest and greatest software, but they buy new computers just to play the newest games.

We need to get you a new Android buddy, you're missing out!

Maybe, but I like my waterproof phone... gotten soaked on the bike several times, and used it at the river/beach in/on/around the water without a worry.
And it's great seeing drunk people's faces when it gets dunked in a glass at the bar. Some people FREAK as they are so worried for it.

Besides, warranty just replaced it a month ago
