Thinking of riding in Russia next year. Anyone have experience?

I'm going to Russia next year with my son for his graduation trip. I just now entertained the thought of renting a couple of motorcycles while we're there.

Has anyone got any experience with riding in Russia? Just wanting to know how the traffic laws are, the Police etc. Feeling this out and getting an idea of what I want to do, or even if it's worth it.

Любые советы от фактического россиян с благодарностью.

I wouldn't want to drive, much less ride in Russia.
There's a reason 80% of the drivers over there have video cameras on their dash and 90% of the vids from those crash entertainment sites are from Russia. My assumption from watching those is that they have very very little respect for actual traffic laws and right of way common sense and courtesy.

I do hope I'm wrong and it's just a small percentage stereotype and you do get to enjoy your time out there with your son though.

Forgot about all those videos from Russia. Food for thought.

What parts of Russia were you going to visit? I have no input; but just curious about the various terrains and riding conditions over-all.

Saint Petersburg and Moscow are my favorites. Always something to do. As far as the car accidents, Russians are good drivers but they are the opposite of courteous. They drive rudely and sometimes overestimate their ability. Just get an insured rental, you'll be fine.
Edit: you said riding... that's a different topic altogether.

Just staying around Moscow and St. Petersburg mainly, unless something interesting comes up.
