Stolen! 2005 Gsxr 600 - Central Houston

Hello fellow MH members,

My 2005 Suzuki Gsx-r 600 was stolen from my apartment complex this week. It was parked within a gated (completely enclosed), parking structure in a privately assigned parking spot. Central Houston area, near downtown.

The bike itself is a 20th Anniversary edition and currently has aftermarket Telefonica Movistar fairings. The gas tank is painted black with scrapes and dents on it. The original 20th Anniversary stock black muffler was still on the bike.

I will post pictures soon - it looks pretty much exactly the same. And it's the only bike with these aftermarket fairings and tank color combination that I know of in the Houston area.

The last time I saw the bike was last Saturday night, after coming home from the LSR. I discovered it missing early this morning. So the theft most likely took place between 11/4 - 11/9.

If anyone has info, please send me a PM. Thanks for reading!

A few additional details:

- The bike was not towed. I checked.
- HPD has been contacted and a stolen vehicle report has been filed.
- My apt manager has been notified, and security cam footage will be reviewed.
- Insurance has been notified.
- We will talk to our on site security and neighbors (that park nearby) to ask about suspicious activity.
- No Lo-Jack was installed on the bike.

To those that might be interested..

I did not chain lock my bike, because there is nothing near my spot to chain to. Our complex has a policy of assigning spots and will not reassign - I've asked, almost begged. I know I didn't park in the wrong spot, but I walked the entire garage twice anyway, in case someone was pulling some prank. And I don't think I anyone off, as I try to be respectful whenever I take the bike out.

To be honest, I have an idea of what the theft and recovery rates for motorcycles are like. That's a risk I took when I bought the bike and moved into my apartment. But the feeling of walking up to an empty parking spot with your helmet and gear in hand still isn't pleasant.

I'm not extremely angry, because I knew the risk. I just hope anyone else that parks in a communal garage or public lot is also aware of the risk and makes the choices that are acceptable to them.

Photo of stolen bike. The only thing different from the picture is that the bike had stock black mirrors on.

Thanks a lot for the support guys! It means a lot when you feel like you've just been robbed (of both bike and pride, lol).

Seriously, thanks for the concern.

man that really sucks. The worst things happen to the best of people.

Hope you get your bike back buddy, I live close to 59/kirby area and will keep an eye out for it. Those fairings are pretty unique and quite noticeable.

I know the feeling. My first bike was stolen in 2000. It was a 2000 ZX6R. I had it for 3 months. I was smart enough to get FC even though I paid cash and didnt have to.
