Clipped by welding truck 11/7

Exited 45 South for Fuqua. Approached the two lane exit on the feeder road. Exited onto the left exit lane. A black F-450 regular cab, short bed flat bed welding truck was next to me in the inside exit lane. Last minute I saw him drop back quickly and my heart sank as he entered my blind spot. Next thing I know I feel my bck end kick around as he either clipped my tire or tail. Sent me into some tank slap as the road curved to the right. Meanwhile he clearly hammered the brakes and cut over in time because he made the exit (cut thru the yellow hashed triangle that marks the corner.

Here's where I up. I recovered the tank slap but not quick enough to avoid drifting into the curb. As the forks went straight I looked back to try and ID the truck. To no avail. No company name. I looked back and drifted slightly and made contact with the curb and caught and toppled to my left. If I had tucked and just swerved hard to the right I would've been fine but I would've swerved out of my line and Into another and could have put myself in front of a following vehicle.

Impact:

Bike grinds along the curb for 10ft (went back and looked). Hit a cold joint on my shifter and that's what tossed me. Both rider and bike cleared the curb so no major impact damage. Stood the bike up. Talked to witnesses. Called my shop, tech came and picked me up. Bike started when we got to the shop. Rides in a straight line, no fluids leaking, handle bar left side might be tweaked a tiny bit. Not burning oil. Mechanically sound. MIGHT have bent the front left rotor.

Gear:

Helmet, my GP gloves, t short, Bionic chest, back and shoulder jacket (isn't wear the full jacket today). Jeans. Steel toes.

The radiator was stuffed with dirt and grass. No damage. Crank cover held up, half a bolt was ground off.

Doing my -1/+2 sprockets this afternoon before the central meet.

Glad I pulled the fairings off yesterday!

Oh yeah, building this bike for mild stunt/hard track days so a little rash is no big deal

Can't see the swelling.

Luckily there are only two pipeline/welding jobs here and the truck is very unique. I own a diesel shop...I have seen it before and instantly recognized it.

I'm going to both sites at lunch today. Watch the news tonight, you might see "Louisiana pipe-liner beat to death with sportbike helmet"

clean out the bed of your truck, geeeez.

Sucks to hear, nonetheless.

Yeah that sucks.. If you do see the truck, think twice before acting.

And I can guarantee you that rotor is bent out of tolerance.

Not my truck. That's the shop haul pig 7.3 with propane. But yeah, lazy techs. I decided I'm not going to act on it because I have nothing to gain really. He'll neer admit he did it.

Don't expect that rig to have a company name on it. They are independently owned by the contract welders. Glad you are ok. I would still go looking for the guy. I would ask him for cash on Friday

Yeah it's worth at least video taping the approach and reaction. Inform him I have witnesses. He can either enjoy due process in the form of a suit or pay out.

Shouldn't be hard to find a regular cab, short bed f450. Considering Ford never made one, it has to be custom. Never seen anyone chop a 450 either. Take a video, and "find" the plate number.

Like I posted bro. I know what truck it is, as I've already done repairs on a few trucks at both pipelines in S Houston.

And yes it's custom.... Trucks like that are my profession...Typical setup for a liner. F-450 RCSB doesn't exist from the factory.

You can build a pimp rig when you make 200k per year. Some do

There's a couple of different pipeline jobs goign on in the area, I would sit and wait in that spot tomorrow about the same time and look for the truck then track him down, get the plate number, tell him you ahve witnesses.

If he doesn't own up, he'd get an kicking, well one of us would at least.

Yeah y'all have nailed my plan. Except y'all are all missing the fact that I said or seen this truck before. I already know where it is. Was just taking advice on a plan of action when I get there
