Needing advice on gear indicators

Anyone have the universal gear indicators for their bikes? I'm still a newb and don't remember to count my gears so sometimes I find myself trying to find that 7th gear

I'd really like to get one, and was thinking of getting this one, until I read on the FZ6R forum that one guy tried to have the dealer install it and they gave up after 7hrs of trying.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Ge...item232343caf9

I know I don't have the most common bike on the road, but I also don't wanna be splicing and dicing up my wires. Any help would be appreciated!

deinitely useful, i would have already put one on my bike if my gear position sensor hasnt taken a dump, otherwise, id just suck it up and get the hang of it... although when im riding 600's i always look for that mythical 7-8th gear.

I had a accumen (sp?) On my zx 10 was great every now and then would display the wrong gear but after rolling about 10ft it fixed it self.
For the zx10 it was great cause it had timing eliminator made the bike less lurchy, easy to Install to.

I think we all look for 7th gear. Even if my tach tells me I am in 6th, I gently see if I can bump up one more. lol.

I could have used an indicator a few years back. I was on a back road in Mexico. There was a curve that I usually drop into around 90 MPH. I was kicking it down to second, as usual. I accidentally found first. No slipper clutch! Locked the up, stood it up, and rode through a farmers field for a little bit.

I have never had a bike with an indicator. That will be a must for the next one, and AC...

I installed one on my girls sv650, and she loves it.
It wasn't universal, it was a GiPro designed for her bike. Fished out a plug under the seat (diagnostics plug?), plugged it in, and it worked. Nothing to it but routing the wire and sticking it to the dash. (It was not the TRE version, incase that matters)

It's slow... riding very spiritedly and short shifting a bit it can still read first for a little when you bump into 3rd. It has some lag time. BUT... it's great to look at once stopped to make sure you are in 1st, or in 6th while cruising. Don't think I'd ever bother with one for myself, but for someone learning to ride or learning to drive standard... It seems to help.

I bought a healtech glpro with atre from motorcyclesuperstore.com for the GSXR-600 a few years back, and love it. It was easy to install. Plugged rite in.
