Carbon and Lostner to race GNCC

Lee and I kicked around the idea of racing a national one day, we checked out the GNCC schedule and TN is the closest to us so we decided we're doing it.

http://www.gnccracing.com/pages/schedule/loretta-lynns

We made our commitment 6 weeks ago, started gathering information for what we needed, travel time, distance, weather, expenses etc.

GNCC at Loretta Lynns ranch is one of the largest and oldest races on the GNCC circuit, this should be a very exciting time, a great race and a great lifetime experience. We're not getting younger and since we're both still physically capable of doing this, we're all in complete with a smallish pit crew to help us out.

The race is 2 hrs, course length is unknown, there will be no practice, we'll only be able to "walk" or bicycle the course to get an idea of what obstacles we face, we aren't even allowed to walk "on the race course" we must walk or bicycle the course outside of the course markings.

The 25' rule applies which is great, there are tons of "off course" lines that we'll have the option of taking should we deem necessary. Some of our local race organizer do not recognize this rule.

We're both excited and as the daily countdown gets shorter and shorter, my mind and body grows more nervous, I'm not a motocrosser by any means, the mx track will be included in our course, not something I'm excited about but, this may be my one and only time to do it so I'm all in..

Get on a mountain bike and start working on your cardio asap! You're also going to need to improve your forearm and grip strength to prevent severe arm pump. I raced a GNCC at Barnwell Mountain (I think it was in 2004) on a quad and it was the most physically demanding race I've ever entered! Please wear a helmet cam as the course will be nuts...and good luck!!!

i've watched every race this year, most of the courses are very fast, esp this venue, I know it's going to be taxing on the physical side for sure. I haven't gotten arm pump ever before in the past (i do my best to have a very relaxed grip) so i'm not going to concern myself with it this time, as for the strength and will to finish 2 hrs of brutality, that's a different story.

I'll have my gopro2 so i'll probably throw on my chesty and get the footage from there, I don't want to risk losing it to a tree or the ground.

I may need to borrow another Gopro2 also if i can find someone to lend me one.. The g/f is racing also so I would like to strap one on her as well.
