I been looking at cruisers now that my bike is a track bike. I would like either the Midnight Warrior or Nightrod special, Lot of money for the second though. Anyone got a comparrison between the two, or pro's or con's of them.

Plug a Magna

Let me put in my plug for a Honda Magna. I think it would be a good fit for you since you're used to riding sports bikes.

Here's a few stats:
Dry weight 500 lbs
Stock HP (rear wheel) 76
750 cc V4 (from the interceptor)
Street price $3500 to $5,000

The bike is light and nimble for a cruiser. Stock configuration will supposedly beat every stock Harley out there except the V-Rod (I haven't tried this, yet.). It will even beat the VTX 1800 in the 1/4 mile, but not by much.

The bike can be changed to have many looks but one of the nicest things about it are the four pipes which give it an even look with 2 on each side. The engine is also bullet-proof and low maintenance.

You can squeeze about 6 extra HP out of the engine without opening it up, but that's about it. Just start checking the stats and you'll find the Magna easily has more HP than V-twin cruisers with twice the displacement.

For more information check out www.magnaownersoftexas.org.

The V-Rods are nice too. The M109 I've heard nothing but bad stuff about as far as how they handle. If you're looking to spend more money than a Magna then you might consider the V-Max. It will peel your face off. One review article said something like this, "Sure there are sports bikes that are faster, but you aren't sitting straight up... and from that vantage point the 1/4 mile is a lot different." Incidentally the V-Max is a V-4 as well.

If you get a V-Max... I want to take it for a ride. :icon_smil

Last time I checked there were at least two types of V-Rods. The "sport" verison had the pegs more underneath or behind you and the other versions had them position more like forward controls. I don't recall that being "optional" as much as it was just a whole different bike.

Hope that helps.

Re: 22MPG

Maybe @ WOT the entire time.

They are suppose to get 34 or somewhere there about. Some that have been on long road trips claim a little higher.

I just picked up a black 109 Friday.

Before you buy one, see if you can rent one for the weekend first. I'm not sure if any of the Honda or Yahama shops rent their cruizers, but I know most of the HD shops do in the Houston area.

Hey. Thanks for the heads up and the ride offer. I'll might be able to make the ride on the 22nd. I take it you'll post info in the events section.

I see we're not too far apart either. I'm near 290 and Barker Cypress.

Thanks Scooter Trash. We definitely love the Ultra!!! Hubby traded in his custom Fatboy for the Ultra and I sold my Honda 1100 Shadow Spirit because the long trips were too hard on my physically. I still miss riding solo, but not enough that I'm ready to go buy another bike. We've had the Ultra for a little over a year and she just went in the shop for her 10,000 mile maintenance, new rear tire, and rear brakes. Definitely been putting the miles on her that's for sure!!!

Taking a road trip to Beeville this weekend just because we can. Also have a big bike trip planned for the first week of October down to Big Bend. That is one trip I can hardly wait to make!!!
