ticket and defensive driving???

First moving violation on the bike. Got a 68 in a 55. I was talking to someone yesterday about defensive driving and they said you have to take a motorcycle specific d.d. Class and not just a regular one. Is this true? If it is why? Isn't speeding, speeding, no matter what you're driving? I haven't called on it yet, just figured I'd ask some of y'all first.

Check your paperwork with the city the ticket came from AVOID what anyone else says because each city sets their policy. Ive been through this mess and would have been in huge trouble without the rules in writing from the city.

Thanks. Some people, like yourself, know what their talking about. Didn't know it was a city law and not state. I'll call then.

Have you gone to your arraignment? Judge should tell you.

He was VERY nice and only wrote me for that so I could take defensive driving.

talk to DA or judge, they might consider track day as DDC. and it had been done before

I took DD at Defensivedriving.com for a DPS issued speeding ticket on my bike while riding in Austin County

Years ago I got a ticket like that in League City. The paperwork said I could take the one day MSF class so I did. After that I went to the courthouse to turn in all the stuff and the lady said I wasn't allowed to take MSF and she would not take my documents. I asked for a supervisor who said the same. I showed where their OWN paperwork said I could and they still refused. I asked to see a judge and an hour later when court was finished we met with the ladies. The judge saw in the papers that I was right and said I could go. He then chewed out the clerks right there on the spot.

There is a trackday org around here whose school the state recognises as defensive driving. Can't remember the name, but something like a star oe one star or something like that

you can do either the adv rider course or defensive driving. Personally, I did the advanced rider course. It was way more fun then sitting in a class for eight hours....

It was Galveston county sheriff. He was nice, for real. He could've wrote it for way worse.
