would a battery from a 600 work in a 1000?

Depends. A 600cc inline4 batt going into a 1000cc twin might have some problem cranking over those big jugs. Even if it could turn it over, the weaker battery might - over time - damage the sprag gear that is in the starter drive assembly of some engines.

Lead acid batts are not that expensive. You'd be better getting the right one for the long term.

Depends on cold cranking amps. If its close then it should be fine

Batteries plus $90. Better warranty for less.
Mine lasted 2 years and I run an alarm
