Actually, it wiuod be reasonable, but you'd have to train drivers like in eruope. Which no lazy american wants to spend 1-2 years in driving school. Lol.

Lane splitting works all over the world, and it works in California. Are you saying Texans are dumbasses?

Keep in mind that whether lane-splitting is safe to do also depends on lane widths. There are some federal guidelines for interstate hwys, but each state can legislate minimum lane widths for urban and rural roads - and they do. Planners often use prevailing traffic density trends as a design factor for setting lane widths on any particular roadway. The wider the lanes, the higher the permissible volume flow and the lower the speed reduction factor and, in turn, accident rate.

Because states like Calif and particularly SoCal has such high traffic densities, their hwys are often constructed to the 12ft standard width, whetheras other states with less flow may choose 11ft or even less.

I've lived in SoCal and now TX, and my impressions are that lane and shoulder widths here in TX in general are not condusive to lane splitting. That's my personally observation, and it jives with lane-splitting not permitted by law here.

You are, of course, free to make up your own mind.

Here are some videos that you may be interested in. These are of my Dad & I riding thru Bangkok Morning Rush Traffic. In the 2nd or 3rd video you can see a cop on one of their typical police motorcycles as well.

Be sure to mute the speakers as theres alot of wind noise.

Far East is whole 'nother story. Try driving/riding like that here Stateside, and you are liable to get shot with a 12ga. That's if popo don't haul your to County lockup first, or... you get run over by an 18wheeler.

On the bright side, if EVERYBODY drives/rides like that around here... there will be no accident backup. They will all clear up before the wreckers even leave the scene.

Last time I was back in the "old Country", I rode with one of my uncles in his car. He would blow past one red light after another, and one stop sign after another... no slowing down, but he would toot his horn just before he blows the intersection - apparently to warn any drivers on the cross street of his impending arrival. I sank lower into the seat every time he did that.

Made me glad, yet again, to be living in the grand ol' US of A.

Not really much interesting to look at. The important part is I split/filtered for several miles and not once was I honked at, shot or even run over by a road rager. In fact, many people actually moved over to let me through. AWSOME thank you

I did not pass any other riders.

Had it not been for the white lane deviders and having to ride them, it would have been pure cake.

I would do it again. I percieve the added risk to be fairly small.
Saw a vid of a guy honking at and flipping off a lane splitter. Even paced the rider to show his displeasure. SUV ended up slamming into the back of stopped traffic because he was too busy being mad at the rider.

Nope, I talked to my boss and switched my hours to avoid rush hour. 1:30 each way vs. 55 am and 1:10 pm. I'm happy.

Last week I had an off duty cop in his personal vehicle try to block me while I was lane splitting. I honked, got up next to him and noticed his daughter goes to my school. He started yelling at me and about that time the soccer moms behind him started honking because he was holding up traffic. Then he attempted to write down my license plate number lololol

I'm lucky the only spot I run into traffic is the BW8/59 connection. The rest is cruising at good speeds. If I have to deal with worst traffic, I may not bother taking the bike. Cus it will no longer be enjoyable. Filtering/splitting cuts into that comfort/fun factor too and just feels too much like work.
it only saves me @ 5 minutes if road is clear, with 80% more of chance getting hurt but gives me 110% of pleasure.

Not much, until I can get my rear brake caliper on my bike replaced.
