anyone heard of this....

When i was doing my title work I had to get a bonded title on my TL. I was talking to a guy today and he said there is a form called "deal fell through" that would have saved me a HUUUUGE headache.

The problem was the title was signed but never transferred, so the lady told me to get a bonded title. :(

Any one heard of this?

you can do that, but you have to have the original owner sign it.

Yep. Had to do that on my first bike I bought in 2007, and recently again on my 4th bike I bought at the end of June 2012. You should always get a second or even third opinion about title issues.

talked to the Harris country title place. it's called a statement of fact form. You can use it if you are buying it from the original owner only(the person the bike it titled to.

statement of Fact (Form) Can only be used if you buy from the original owner? Isnt that redundant? (No form would be needed if you were buying from the original owner IE: the jackass who never titled it never existed)

But i could see, going out of your way, to contact the original seller to sign some and see it working.

Good info to know, if you can just get us some more key details

Actually I just did one on my last bike. it was really easy..... It was another e'd up title. But I had a title. from what I was told, id you don't have a title you need a BOS from the person you bought it from.

This was the process I had to do.
1) Go to DOT(washington street) have them check it out. Fill out some paper work.
2) They had to do some searching then prepare some paper work for me.( i was there about 4:30 and they called me the next day by 10 am for me to pick it up)
3) Take that paper work to an insurance company to get a bond($100) took about 10 minutes to do the paper work. I needed to show my DL and ins. on the bike.
4) Take the paper work to the to the title place and transfer it like a regular title.
5) They said it'll take 4-6 weeks regular titles take 2-3 weeks.

In short this can all be done in a few hours. it wasn't hard at all.

thats just what I had to go through.

Statement of fact..... There are two choices in this case
.
1) Track her down and ask her to do a statement of fact.
2) Offer the original owner $50 for their time to go get a duplicate title that'll cost her about 5 bucks. then its just a clean title for me to sign on the back.

hope this might shed some light on it for you.

too much work IMO, i just have a title company deal with it, everybody wins, i get my strait up with no hick-ups or frustrations or multiple trips to the tax office, and title place makes a dime or two,
