I love my Yamahas.

Just picked up a 2012 R1 GP edition last week. My first bike was my R6 that I bought brand new two years ago. Its given me thrills that I could not get anywhere else. The R1 is a totally different animal. So different that I rode it for a week and completely forgot how to handle my R6. I plan to keep the R6 as a track only bike, and the R1 for street. So far the R1 is stock, I plan to keep it that way, maybe an exhaust down the rode. The bike is more than enough in stock form. The traction control is pretty neat too. The R1 is SN:1286, my birth month and year is 12/87. Missed it by one unit. Would of been a nice personal touch to have SN: 1287 but I'll take it lol. Enjoy

Congrats on some fine machines. My first four bikes were all Yamaha's.

How much are you paying for full coverage on the R1?

Nice Combo, really like the red/white on the R1, one bike is never enough.
I've had a few Yamaha's in my day. 80cc was my first bike, I don't know the year or model but it was an older bike at the time and it was in 1990 so... Since I've been a proud owner of a ttr-125, yz426f, xt-225, VStar 1100 custom, and now a FZ1 and YZ125. Nothing against other makes, it just works out that way.

I just have liability which is 400 a year. Not too concerned with full coverage, since its not my primary mode of transportation.

good stuff, ever see the white wheels on the 2012?? I'm typically not a fan of it but it looks good with your paint scheme

I forgot to close that thread. I decided to keep it. I think I can really hone my skills with the R6 at the track, and the R1 is for joy rides and city cruising.

Lol the bike kickstands dug into the grass and it tipped over and bent the lever.
