'Sisters' route suggestions

I'm planning on heading up to the sisters soon for my first experience of hopefully many. However, have no clue what's a must ride route for my first experience.

Any suggestions?

must ride is 337 between Leakey and Bandera. The entire sisters 335 336 and 337 is must ride.

Ride the sisters, Hwy16, 39, and 1340

Also try 470>187>337 if you are headed out of Bandera

Patrick made some really good suggestions in this thread...

Of the 7 times I've done the sisters over the years, I've yet to ride down 55. I've heard good things though.

55 is okay. Nothing spectacular other than long sweepers. Speed limit varies on 55 and I think the highest speed limit was 60 mph? Watch out for Johnny Law.

Make safe passes and make sure Johnny Law isn't following/watching you when you cross the double yellow to pass.

Make sure to have JB weld or get a radiator guard. Make sure to stay hydrated, even if the weather is not scorching; you will still work up a sweat your first time out on the sisters. Make sure to have a tire patch and plug kit, you will be a long way from a tow or service station at times.

Hwy 55 is pretty good, and is far out enough that it doesn't get much LEO attention. It is more sweeping than the best parts of 337 and 16, but then again what isn't (at least in Texas)? A few of the roads north of Boerne are ok, but Old San Antonio Road had about a mile under construction recently, PR 37 is quite good also. If you take 470 stop by Mac and Ernie's in Tarpley, they make a great antelope burger.

Stay the speed limit between medina and vanderpool on 337, there is almost always a LEO out there. Also on 337 between vanderpool and leakey there has been a LEO in the valley between the two twisty portions. You've been warned; Bandera and Real county fines are high.

I forgot one thing, once you are on the sisters, make sure to fill up when you get the chance. Since this is your first time out, you won't know where the gas stations are and the full loop is nearly 100 miles.

Buy a mesh metal trashcan from wal-mart. Cut out to the size of your radiator, and safety wire the corners. Look out for Bob on 337, and don't pass on the double yellow. Wear gear (there was a double fatality not in our group). Be safe, and have fun!
