Jon I saw the whole thing unfold in my mirror....It was by far the smoothest crash i have seen at that speed....if the pavement was dry, it could have hooked up and hi-side you..

Glad you had your gear on...I have the video coming up soon..

and it probably would have had i panicked. like you, my front tire started to slip about the time i figured out that corner was NOT dry I didnt have much time to react. once i started to reduce my counter steering angle to try and stand the bike up a little to gain a little traction, the rear decided to come unglued. at that point the only thing on my mind was to keep the throttle where it was, loosen up the best i could, and just let the bike do what it needed to do.

damage wise:

me: ive got bumps and bruises, and a smallish rash spot on my left cheek (about 2 square inches or less if i had to guess).

bike: with just a quick inspection: front upper fairing stay, front upper fairing, windshield, right mirror, shifter foot peg, reposition brake lever. bars and forks seem to be fine. didnt notice any funny business in the steering on the ride home, so im pretty sure its just gonna be a clean up job to get me back up and running.

Gear: Gloves are shot, pants are shot, the jackets shot. Im going to err on the side of caution and just replace the helmet.

ill post pics tomorrow.... hmm, this may be rod ryan worthy....

Judging from the video the rider really needs to practice not crossing double yellows. Glad he's OK, but . It could have been worse with the on coming douche who crossed the line.

Lol, they don't make them like that anymore. Reminds me of the classic cars that were all metal and no plastics.

We met this guy at Bucee's..don't recall his name. He asked if he could tag along. Since there were only 4 of us we said ok. He said he had been riding for 2 years. He did okay for the most part. When we passed him in that corner, he made eye contact with me and i knew that was not going to be good. He target fixated and almost hit me too. I stood the bike up quick and leaned back into the corner. I looked in my mirror and prayed he does not hit Jon.

2 big lessons learnt:
1) don't invite people into the group ride you don't know.
2) Stay home if there is a good chance of rain. Riding in the rain should be to get to a safe destination.

Some of the roads looked dry, but were still wet. I lost traction plenty of times...

the corner that Jon went down on, i lost my front end twice...felt like bumps.. found myself off my seat resting on the tank...then as soon as i got out the corner, i looked in my mirror and saw it happen..i thought he was making a U turn..

BUT, I BLAME LUCAR FOR EVERYTHING!!

This thread has 3 accidents:

1) Whitney fell down the stairs and Lucar caught her (in slow motion).

2) David crashed on Saturday

3) Madtrini crashed Sunday

This thread is full of hurt..

I crossed twice, but not at the near miss. the first time was all me, no clue what happened. second time i got nailed hard by a pretty good sized rock from jims tire that shook my concentration. still have the marks to prove it.

Yea, it's kind of understood that you're going to be hit by rocks, stung by wasps and bees, have bugs get trapped under your visor, have cars cross the center stripe, etc. It's all happened to me. You've got to stay focused and ignore all that
